Where do I sign up?

I'd make a great character in a dystopian novel. C'mon, it'd be brilliant. I'd like invent a whole new body language to get past the bugs.

I really don't care about food.  Whatever the majority of people get from the experience of eating, I simply don't.  It's just a biological obligation that can sometimes be mildly pleasant for a few minutes.  I would give that up in a heartbeat if I could also give up the effort involved in preparing and cleaning up after meals, the cost, and the wading through tons and tons of capitalist obfuscation/political bullshit to figure out what a healthy diet really is.  I'd be happy eating a tasty snack once in a while when frustrated and that's it for the rest of my life.

Save lots of time/money, be healthier (significantly extend lifespan?), and possibly even contribute to the easing of environmental/social burdens all at the same time?  A million times yes.

We've had nutritionally complete foods for a while, anyway, so it's nothing new. It's just that they're all nasty, so they don't see much use outside of situations like prison or the military.

There are quite a few nutritional supplements I've had to dispense in the pharmacy in the form of the milkshake, for patients who have gastrointestinal diseases which cause malabsorbtion for example. However these usually aren't *complete* feeds, although they do cover quite a lot of your nutritional bases.

I believe there are products which *do* cover all your nutritional requirements that can be dispensed via pharmacy, but I haven't had to provide any of these yet. And yes, they can be revolting. :P

I fully agree. I mean, I'd still want actual food most of the time, but having this sludge for days I am too lazy to cook...

And yet people still complain they don't have flying cars.

We have nutripaste now and pocket-sized supercomputers, which the 50s didn't even contemplate. Stop whining.

ACC Tournament begins today. This is like The North Carolina equivalent of the World Cup.  :D

Maybe not as much as in past decades, but I remember when I was a kid, the teacher would give us worksheets of just random mindless busy work, turn the TV on to the game, and all the students would rearrange their desks into little camps based on school allegiance. And we just watched basketball all day. For three days straight.

I'm seriously thinking about signing up for the study.  If it turns out to be a major thing, it would be pretty cool to be one of the first on board.

This is the happy thread, not the "Things that made you absolutely terrified thread". D:

IMHO, dining (by which I mean, eating for the sensual pleasure of it) is one of the things that elevates us from furless monkey to human beings. The idea of living off "protein slurry" for the rest of my life is some kind of dystopic nightmare.

I like the idea of having nutritionally complete foods be openly available for very cheep, though I'd definitely supplement it with regular home-cooked meals. In fact, I'm going to sign up for the trial the creator is proposing. Don't imagine I'd be selected, but he's basically conducting Open-Source Science here, and I'd like to help for a number of reasons. The science behind it seems pretty sound as far as I can tell, and he recognizes that our nutritional know-how is still incomplete, and makes nods to suspected micronutrients and even macrobiotics, etc.

The hard part is arranging a CBC, chemical panel, and lipid blood test while uninsured, and on a shoestring budget. Any ideas?

I'd like to, but I can't afford all the physical tests. I have no health insurance. Stupid poverty.

I enjoy decent food way too much to eat THAT stuff.

There's no reason you have to stop eating regular food. I mean, have this for breakfast when you're too busy to actually cook anything, maybe for lunch a couple times a week, and have a normal dinner. If it's as cheap and tasty as he says it is, there's no reason not to.

I'd go for this. I like food, but making it 3 times per day is just a chore. I'll have this 3x per day, and then go out for dinner once per week. Only problem being:
