It's a portmanteau of squeal and squeak I believe. One does it inadvertently when something especially adorable or highly anticipated happens.

If you do have a camera, give us your best squee face too! You can't have a cuteness overload without squeeing.
How do you . . . "squee?"

Bad example. Team Ninja's Metroid game (can't even remember the name) wasn't all that great. Kittens, on the other hand, are always great.
This is true, but that comic's the best visualization I know of.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Inadvertently. So all purposeful squees are mere imitations of the real thing.

Close, but I never said it was SOLELY done inadvertently, I was simply giving an example of when one might squee, not when squees must occur to be classified as squees.

Though it is pretty hard to get a real, heart-felt squee without some sort of muse.

(Note: Originally heart-felt was spelled "Hardfelt." Freudian slips ftw)

My dad's exploring the great deserts of Utah. He's found some weird stuff including a dinosaur track, vandalism from the late 1800s and this:

Playing Magic with a buddy, excessive nerdliness follows for the curious. He's got a deck based around coin flips and the abuse thereof. I win the first two games solely because I have a Platinum Angel out very early in the game, and he doesn't actually have any way of causing more than 3 damage to it since most of the deck is based around getting out Chance Encounter and making a shitload of flips. The third one I win because of that Primordial Hydra, who manages to steamroll over his life about 2 turns before he'd finish winning. Though a Creepy Doll actually killed the 22/22 Hydra, and I wound up winning with, of all things, Birds of Paradise equipped with Argentum Armor.

Also, should I just start a Magic thread?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
