My favourite troll is the Nekkid (loosely translated from Swedish name) of Swedish (and maybe Scandinavian) folklore. He takes the form of a naked man sitting in the river playing his fiddle, and his music was so good it would either lure people into the river to drown or make them dance until they died of exhaustion. Oh, and he's naked.

Mine would be the Norse ones. Three eyes, future seeing and generally badass.

...What are you talking about?

Also, there's no real "type" of Scandinavian troll. While a few traits and tropes belong together in win-categories, most trolls would be personages, not the "races" that's common in modern fantasy.

The only fact about trolls is they come in many different forms.

Some hide under bridges, some wield giant clubs, some run clubs, some stalk internet forums.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Because I have a sick mind, I imagined the phrase "playing his fiddle" and everything after it to be innuendo. It was probably because of the naked thing. Why is he naked?

Yeah, but what I meant was, there's no such being in any folklore I ever heard of. Well, unless it was a wizardy kind of troll (which is pretty much what the word "troll" means by the way). Also giants pretty much == trolls by the way.

Because he's the Nekkid.

Also I usually try to tell that joke everytime I mention him in English.

Also possibly because he doesn't want to get his clothes wet. Or he thinks it'll attract more ladies to drown and/or imprison. But most likely it's because he's the damn Nekkid.

Because all mythology is naked creatures and incest.

I've been having nonstop music-gasms all week. This is great. I've progressed from the Nichijou OST to the Riding Bean OST. This is not the kind of music you'd expect to hear from an anime, this is the kind you'd expect when you click on the 70's and 80's Classics stations of your local radio. Not even in Japanese, these songs are in English. This is an especially amazing one, a love ballad done in the old, passionate style:

This is just so beautiful, so fulfilling to the ears!

Fascinated with DF history in the last version. Vampires kill thousands of things. Necromancers write dozens of books
Edit: The truth about the human: a legendary acacia-bound book. The written portion is a 30-pages essay, authored by erith Machinewhips. It concerns the human necromancer Leru Bridgechips. The writing is fairly cheerful and it gives a feeling of compassion here and there.
Rather late, but a friend of mine encountered a tome by the name of "Humans: My Greatest Mistake". Truly, the necromancer Lasiv Wavysoothes was like unto a god.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Just watched the first 4 MLP's. I am hooked.

On a completely unrelated note my father tried to drift around a corner and accidentally locked the hand-brake. We nearly flew off the road.
