Well that exam was quite easy. But also kinda disappointing. "Prove that the product of two odd numbers is also odd". Seriously. I did that kinda thing in kindergarden.

It's not. I think the point was to state this, then prove it. Or maybe he meant to say even.

Wait what. If you multiply two (or more) odd numbers you always get an odd number. An odd number is defined as a natural number that can be divided by 2, that is, has 2 as a prime factor. A product inherits the prime factors of its factors. Ipso facto, the product of two prime numbers doesn't have 2 as a prime factor since neither factor did. Q.E. motherfucking D.

It's different from the proof I used in the exam but works too.

From thinking about it for a couple seconds:

Odd numbers are numbers that take the form of 2n+1, with n being an integer. So the product of two odd numbers is

2n1+1 * 2n2+1 = 4n1n2 + 2n1 + 2n2 + 1,

 which can be simplified to 2n3+1, with

n3=2n1n2 + n1 + n2.

EDIT:
An odd number is defined as a natural number that can be divided by 2, that is, has 2 as a prime factor.
No, those are even numbers.
