In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I'm playing Shadow of the Colossus for the first time and I'm having a blast. Killed the first and started the second. I'd of kept playing but it's 6:00am and I need to sleep.

Team 4 star made a 2 minute summary of their entire series so far. So they took awesome and condensed it into a very solid block.

Facebook's "like" button has been banned in Germany.

And I immediately posted this link on Facebook. The only question is whether not it is deserving of being "Liked".

Look, I'm not defending Facebook's invasiveness, but that measure is both extreme and oppressive. How many websites independent of Facebook and innocent of any wrongdoing are going to end up being fined 50,000 Euros from this? For a nation that's paranoid of the Nazis for their oppressiveness, Germany sure ends up being....well, oppressive.

I'm finally finished with Amnesia! After all this time, I'm free from that damned castle, and that damned shadow, and that damned old man! I am enjoying a delicious mug of blackberry sage tea, with honey, to celebrate!

Now just to pick a day, and give "Justine" a shot!

Max, I've only seen bits of DBZ Abridged before, but abridging an abridged series somehow made it even better. That was actually pretty awesome.

I ought to check more of their videos. They do a good job.

Oh, hey, that's interesting. I needed to look more closely, because now that I look at the actual wording of the law it's just going to drive web hosts out of the state. You're right, too, the punishment is excessive and, I think, too quick (10 days is a bit on the silly fast side of things). Still, I'm all for the principle of applying legal restrictions on privacy invasions (at least the ones where you're not clearly informed).

Finally, the Germans enact a totalitarian regime that everyone can get behind.  That I can get behind anyway.

I love that there's a "Like" button for the article.  I wonder how many people are Liking it.

I find it funny that the common mental image of Germans is that they're people who admire military-style discipline and heavy industry but in reality, they're a nation of green technology and no conscription...

I like the actual Germany better though.
