Caught Gangs of New York on a movie channel again.  It's one of my favorite movies ever and one of the best made in the modern age, so I'm always glad to see that it's more than an unairable cult hit, as its ribald violence and Scorsese direction should make it.  Sure, it takes a lot of liberties with the chronology of real events and people (by making them all take place at the same time), but anyone who wants to learn the character of real American history (if not the specific facts) would do well to watch it.

My APUSH teacher wanted to show it in class, but the schools has these silly restrictions based on 'school appropriateness' and whatnot.
