In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

What?  No, that's something that made me happy today.

I don't think I need a new topic for "I just had coffee for the first time" or "Things that made you caffeinated today"
Haha, you are kinda caffeine buzzing, huh? :)

I meant for fiction discussion, so it won't be four pages back in twenty minutes.

thank god i looked on google first than running straight to my co-op >_>
One of these days, I will trick some gulible, gulible fool into chugging a gallon of cuban coffee without knowing the extent of its caffeine content. And that day, I shall laugh most deeply before I am most likely strangled to death by a caffeine-high maniac.

The thing I find interesting about this sexuality discussion is that nowadays, we define our sex and gender (many of us do, anyway) as the deepest, most important part of ourself, so that in many ways it makes sense to write a character around that.
Last quarter in my Interpersonal Communications class I remember reading something about that. Apparently children often answer the question, "Who are you", with something akin to "I am a (boy/girl) and I..."

Oh boy.
In that case you should probably pass on enegry drinks.
...
Or make an experiment out of it  :D

To be fair, they usually have about half the caffeine content by volume as coffee. The serving size also tends to be larger, but hey, what're you gonna do?

Well, to me the 500ml cans are the normal ones.
And together with all the sugar they seem to have a bigger effect.

I only drink cofee for pleasure anymore, since I cant get a kick out of their caffeine content.
And I make them strong enough for nearly tasting disgusting.

Our physical sex does define much of our biology, and recognizing it in ourselves and others is obviously key to our survival as a species. Our cultures spend a lot of time pointing it out, and establishing it as core to our sense of identity. I suspect that survival is why culturally-defined gender roles can be found in cultures the world over.

Yes, I am still enormously high.

Wow.

Barbar, that study sounds really interesting... I'm currently trying to remember why I picked up that habit.  When I was a kid, I think it was due to reading other people's examples, where they said "I am a little boy/girl who is blank years old and my name is Blahcakes."

Name, age, gender... interesting that we find these things so fundamental.  I usually don't ask people their names, and I don't pay attention to how old they are, either, but my mother always asks.

I never really ask people for their names either, after all you only really use a person's name when you're talking about them, not to them. On the flipside, I never really offer my name either.

Which I suppose is why so many people refer to me as "that guy."

I usually don't ask for the name either, since I have troubles with remembering it anyway.
It comes naturally after some time.

Yep, three years old. Must have been one of his older alts before the main Pathos account was deleted.

I think it's kinda depressing, actually.

It'd be nice if the everyone who got banned from the forum for the rest of the year ended up being Pathos though. Not in the "everybody is Pathos" sense, I just hate to see people act like jerks and then get banned.

Be pretty funny too.

The year is young and the atmosphere is charged.

I am sad to say I don't think that will happen.
