Why did they need a picture if it didn't convey anything?

Why didn't you read the article before coming here to talk about the picture?

That's exactly why they did it.

It's seven paragraphs long and does not explain why they have that picture. It's meant to look like a sun, but the title stating that's what the article is about would be visible first anyway.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

I am baffled as to how an "artist's impression" could have managed to get on something intended to be news. Since I don't read enough news, is this normal?

Long story short: Yes, it is extraordinarily normal.

I'm sorry, I just can't get over the fact you didn't read the article before commenting on its content. If you knew it was an artists' depiction without reading, you could have put two and two together by reading.

Why do you think I didn't read the article first? I knew it was an artists depiction by following the link stating "Photo of the Massive Star" and reading. Tis a sad thing that they call something most probably made in photoshop a photo of something else. Worse that this is normal. But I guess such doesn't belong in the Happy Thread.

That is standard operating procedure for news these days. The definition of photo journalism vs. photo illustration has gotten really murky, and not everyone takes the time point out the distinction. The actual news story makes it clear that the discovery is why the article is there, not the illustration.

My Winnipeg was amazing.

Apparently, Winnipeg was invaded by 5000 members of the Rotary club dressed up like Nazis during WW2 to drum up War Bond sales, Sherbrook pool is actually three pools placed vertically upon each other (The lover two having been closed to the public), We have 10 times more sleep walkers than anywhere else in the world, We have two seperate Taxi companies (One which operates on the main streets, Another that can only work in the alleys) and lots of our streets are named after prominent Brothels and Madames.

Guy Maddins Winnipeg is the best Winnipeg.

Sure, why not, unless it's AS2, because I'm learning 3.

I'll have to post the links tomorrow though, they are all on my flash drive when I don't want to bother rummaging around for this late at night. I'll admit they are from years ago so more than likely it's like AC 1 or something. Still, some may be usable.

And to contribute, I just had an awesome chat with a good friend who just poured their heart out to me. And I think they left on a happy note.
