Going fishing tomorrow, first time for me to catch bass. Also, I ended up reconnecting with some friends last night, and got a good lead on a party, although I've hit my booze drive for a pretty good long while. Either top-quality whiskey gives worse hangovers than cheap 40p vodka, or it dehydrates you way more than I originally thought.

I used to have pet snapping turtles; if you handle them enough as babies you have little to worry about as they get bigger.  But they grow pretty fast... they also seemed to like to kill things just so they were dead.  No fish would share space with them!  Unless you counted all the fish snapped in half.  What a mess.  Then later they are hungry and don't want old fish.

Anyway the story i wanted to tell was I had a Computer.  With a network card, sitting on the floor, minding its own business serving files for my home network.  The turtle in question was frequently allowed to wander around the house unrestricted.  He wound himself up int he network cable and yanked the card right out of the slot, with the computer on.  I heard all this beeping and came to investigate and there was a turtle staring at me from behind the computer...

Speaking of killing things just so they're dead, have you seen the video where the guy feeds mice to his snapping turtle?  Look it up on youtube if you really want to see it, I'm not gonna link it because it's extremely graphic.  The turtle brutalizes them, it snaps them clean in half and rakes them with its claws, flensing the flesh away like it's made of wet paper.


I used to have a regular Red-eared slider, he was pretty cool but he would not eat at all.  I don't know how he lived as long as he did.  He refused to eat regular food, and when we got some feeder fish he refused to eat them too.  The only thing I ever saw him eat was a piece of my thumb.

Anyway, Bal-Sagoth makes me happy.
