Well take for example bronze, it is said to be a metal, despite being made of tin and copper. It is an alloy, and inherits the properties of a metal, as alloys are metals. Therefor, yes, allows are a subset of metals.
Also, an allow doesn't need to be between two different metals, as steel is an alloy, yet made with iron and carbon, so your definition has some issues.

Just discovered that my professor seems to have forgotten to put up the next "ask an interesting question and try to solve it" thread on the online forums, which means that my day today is going to get a hell of a lot easier.  I may actually be able to finish The Long Novel From Hell today and return it only one day overdue.  That would be a Very Good Thing.

I also want to get started on some other problem sets this evening... *sigh*

This book is wonderful.  I mean, I really like it.  On the other hand, finishing looks like it will have been a 30-40 hour endeavor total, and I really want to spend a few, oh, years learning math right about now.
