Nah, this is completely temporary.  I'll go back to food when I feel more involved-with-forums-ish and less study-ish.  I'm taking a break-sort-of-thing for a while.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Florida is also full of old people.  It's a veritable clusterfuck of disasters.

But the no basements thing isn't that bad. Basements aren't as safe as a lot of people think, and you've got a better chance of survival in a central area on the ground floor, especially a bathtub.

This was after walking backwards making soft and squidgy motions and talking about how strings are like jellyfish.

That was right after talking about homotopies between loops, the concatenations thereof, non-associative magmas, and n-omega spaces.

Yeah, this is a great place to be :D

Apparently none of them have adopted anti-cowcraft tactics yet =/

Non-associative magmas? I don't care what these really are, I'm going to assume non-sticky molten rock. That sounds like the best thing.

It's be like if you had ((a + b) + c) != (a + (b + c)).  They're a pain in the ass, but remarkably cool in other ways, too...

Oh, and other enormous happy: after tonight, I'll be home free in terms of the legendary homework backup.  Yeeeeeah~!

Nerdiness inbound:

I'm happy about the number of cool new cards coming up in the latest MtG set, Innistrad. The theme for this set is Gothic Horror, and while I really hate the newest gimmick they have going on, DFC's (Double-faced cards), there's some amazingly cool cards that I want to bust out at the multiplayer table right now.

Here are some of what I'm talking about:

I don't care about the cards (played M:tG for about 1.5 years before selling it all), but I would love to collect all the artwork.  I wonder if anyone out there has compiled a nice gallery of it.

I really like the return of flashback. And holy damn are there some great looking cards in this set.

Also, what the fuck are they doing making a double faced Planeswalker?

This reminds me, why don't we have a MTG thread anywhere?
