On that note, the latest version is in the multilib repository.
I expected it to be in the AUR.
Speaking of the AUR, it has a couple different graphical versions, Dwarf Therapist, and Goblin Camp, which shows up in a search for 'dwarf' because the description says 'inspired by Dwarf Fortress.'

I played 40d extensively on my mac, then DF2010 came out, and my crappy old OS had 0 support for it, so I just stopped playing.
When I got Windows, I never ended up running it because I was too busy playing Liberal Crime Squad.

In virtually all cases, we (since I'm among this group) were attracted by Dwarf Fortress, but we played the Hell out of it until we got burned out.  We hang around the forum because we like the place, Dwarf Fortress itself is just off the gaming radar.  At least that's the way it is for me, especially after that year-and-a-half wait for the 2010 version.  I've been meaning to pick it up again for a while, but every time I'm about to, Toady says he's working on another big awesome update, and I don't want to get burned out again before the new stuff drops.

Which is silly really.  Maybe I'll try it again right now.  And get my Alternia mod into shape.

I never read up on the dev stuff, so I never get my hopes up for a new version.
But yeah, like I said, don't forget that DF isn't the only Bay 12 game.
Even though LCS isn't developed by Toady anymore, it's still based here.
