Also a nice social message. "The Other may be friendly". Too bad somebody didn't like the message or the recipients.

Why must people be afraid?

You hear a roar in the distance.

Sometimes, exploring towards it, you discover a beautiful waterfall.
Sometimes, you discover a bear and get eaten.

That is why people fear the unknown.
That's related to why people have religion, and why we see pictures on the Moon and in clouds; we see patterns, things that aren't there, because it's better to have a false positive than a false negative when you're wondering "is that rustling grass a lion?"

A nature photographer discovered a humpback whale ensnared in an internet cable it had pulled loose from 200m depth. With the help of the Norwegian coast guard, they managed to eventually free it. (The attempt took one and a half day) After some debate on how to name it, 'Hacker' prevailed over 'Free Wifi'.

Initially the whale was frightened of the men, but after a while it seemed to understand that they were trying to help, and kept close to the coastguard vessel on it's own power.

article with photo of the whale while freeing attempt is ongoing:

The Norwegian town of Skulsfjord did have to go without internet for two weeks, since the cable was badly damaged and needed replacement.

I slept for 3 hours despite it being vacation time. Day 5.
But on the great side I feel energized (but really tired!) and had one of the best lucid dreams I've had in great clarity for quite a while that I struggled to type it out! :D
It involves being a nearly transparent spirit being able to explore at will, along with being able to inhabit and power machines and robots, and being friends with other people because of retaining consciousness throughout, while being really futuristic, and flying. And silly flying stunts with speed and sunlight and contrails and other nice things. \o/ Ghost in the machine~

Along with the note that all the machines had a Portal 2-esque feeling to them (Aperture style/sleekly designed, with a white, orange, and black color theme!)
And I can't type comprehensively because I'm still tired despite several days of rest.

I had my 18th cakeday the other day and forgot to post about it, so I am doing it now.

I've just remembered: a couple months ago I was cycling across Europe, and in a toilet in one of the hostels I slept in (in Hague, I think), I've found these two wonderful sentences beautifully calligraphed on the wall:

'Free your mind. Eat the rich.'
