Hey hey hey Kevak, no. As the son of someone who has tried quitting smoking many times, I can say that cold turkey is a bad way to go. My dad has had an e-cig for a while, and supposedly he's been feeling a lot better than when he was smoking real tobacco.

Also, it's not as simple as "try harder and do it", it's an addiction <_<

Ecigs don't help, same dose of nicotine, sometimes with "extra" stuff mixed in. Although there are some that use less nicotine or even none, I can support the ones that use none.

It does actually come down to willpower, it's a choice of if you give in to the craving or say no and don't give in.

Headaches and withdrawal are bad sure, but they are manageable and won't kill you like more dangerous drugs can and do.

Can't speak from personal experience, but from relatives who have successfully quit, encouragement from others seems to be a big help.

I mean, ecigs might not have been helpful for you (I assume you're talking from personal experience, here), but that doesn't mean they can't be helpful for anyone. There are surprisingly few situations in which there's only one right way to do things. Seems like the way to go is to just offer support unless asked for advice.

Not talking from personal experience, talking from experience in getting ten or so people to quit purely through willpower. Once they decided enough was enough (one after a massive coughing fit,), they just stopped. Each one has stated that it's much easier to just stop instead of trying to ween themselves off like they had been doing.

I am still a lawyer, though I am scaling back quite a bit and looking for some line of work outside law. I greatly dislike the legal profession. I guess I could still do the work etc, but I just don't like it.

Good news is I can now focus on that.

Erm... Trying to quite smoking for a month in this context means I haven't been smoking or using any nicotine products in a month. So yes, I'm going cold turkey and have no idea where you pulled the ecigs thing from. O.o
