I was, er, kind of hitting random keys on my Vista laptop (I'm no more pleased to have Vista than you'd expect) and it decided to activate "Gamma Correction," by which I mean it decided to put everything in a sepia tone, which drives me fucking insane.

I've gone through everything I can think of to undo this short of retarded crap like system restore and I have no idea how to fix it.

You need to get to your video options, which since you're using a laptop I'm guessing it is an integrated option. You can find it on the lower right near the clock or you can right click your desktop, "Personalize", "Display settings", then "Advanced settings", and screw around there.

"Control Center" for ati, or "Color management" to "Advanced".

Try mashing buttons again. Ask the makers of your laptop. Google, maybe? I don't know.

Sounds more like a laptop error than a vista screwup, though.
