Finding A Challenge?
« on: August 25, 2009, 01:21:41 pm »

Anyone know how I can get some challenging fun out of this character? I don't know how to hunt mega's.

Perhaps it's because I can't seem to find any quests, tips for that?

Anywho, here's the character painstakingly trained on zombies.

Easiest way to get challenges is to try to destroy a civilization.

Humans work well, because their towns are the best organized.

Goblins and dwarves are all right, too.

Mod the game so you can play as a kobald, do so with no skills and slaughter a whole human town on your own.

Retire your adventurer, place a fort on some HFS, design a clever dungeon full of magma and floor murals, breach the HFS, abandon, take your legendary adventurer and his party to the party fort and let the battle begin. Let me tell you, nothing you have fought yet will prepare you for a

Megas will be very hard to find but if you retire for a bit check the legends up to see if any megas exist and check to see what cave they are in. Either visit the cave yourself or talk to the leaders of nearby towns (or civ leaders, those often give megabeast quests). Anyways, hunt the megas!

Just keep asking for quests. Eventually, your frustration will grant you a new quest: making sure they're never "quite untroubled here" ever again.

Start a war between two groups. Take an adventurer from one civ and go to another civ to kill someone. Return to your original civ. Start an adventurer in the other civ and you'll be given a quest to kill your previous adventurer. The cycle could continue forever!

This.

True that.

Here's a challenging mission I try when I bored:

Infiltrate a hostile human town and take out the leader (or any other unique target, like trade princes). You may approach the town from any side, but you may not embark on top of it. You may not sneak if you can see another unit (so you can sneak if you're behind a house and don't want the entire town homing in on you, but not in broad daylight). If you spot another unit while sneaking, you must manually unsneak. You may not kill anyone except the target. Severely wounding or disabling them is fine, but if they die the mission is considered unsuccessful (or you can apply an imaginary penalty). Once you kill the target, you must try to escape. This time, you cannot sneak at all until you are able to travel again.

It's definitely hard. Unless I was a legendary shield user, I would be pincushioned after a while. I usually try to go for breaking a random leg join whenever I run into someone. That would either cause them to pass out or at least become so slow that they are no longer a problem.

I throw rocks at archers, since rocks usually don't do killing damage.

  • Enter dwarven city next to chasm
  • Try to eradicate the infestation of GCS

  • The dwarfs are dead, your companions are dead, and you're probably dead too

GCS are no challenge. This one time, I charged at one GCS, dodging and dodgin as I ran through the cave, until I reached her and instantly severed her head, sending her flying out of view. I stepped around the corner to find another GCS who was all like "What the hell is going on" and cut her in half with one strike, causing her to go flying into another GCS who promptly fell unconscious. And I did all of this with one arm versus their eight. GCS and a threat do not belong in the same sentence!
