Will making bolts do [SLASH] instead of [PIERCE] cause them to sever limbs btw?

Just wondering....

I'm pretty sure, yeah.  They'll act like swords.

They need to launch bolts that do every damage.

Upon reading some of the other ammo modding topics I noticed people seem to like modding in rifles + bullets.

Contrary to popular belief most of the damage done by a bullet is actually shockwave damage, more in line with [BLUDGEON] than [PIERCE] to be honest.
Bludgeon damage would also probably still allow them to damage internal organs, just to a lesser degree.

But if you use bludgeon then you'll fire enemies across the screen on a good hit, not in line with rifles. Might work for a Spas or a Jackhammer though.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Too bad they don't burst into flame during target practice, because that would be hilarious.

The only real way to tell would be to use an adventurer, and read the combat logs.

hmm.. I think dwarves deserve dragonfire breath. Would make those pesky goblin sieges more fun...

HEAT and BURN work fine.
You cannot start fires using weapons.

Plus if your weapons are on fire your dwarf is on fire.. Setting fire to other things and buring your fort.  Therefore you would need some sort of way to counteract this.  Water clothing ftw?  STEAM RUSH

We actually already discussed fire/magma proof clothing made out of fire-imp leather in some other thread.

Conclusion: the clothes won't burn, but the dwarf sure as hell will.

It is possible t make exploding/boiling arrows but 'tis finicky.

Make a smelter reaction for arrows of some modded-in metal that catches fire at room temperature and a quiver of the leather of some modded-in creature that's stuck at maybe -20 Celsius. It should work, providing the dwarf gets his ammo into his quiver fast enough, and doesn't grab the wrong quiver. And doesn't drop it.

Yeah.

so giving bullets bludgeon damage would cause them to act like hammers...

...wait, you think that's a bad thing. It can lead to some spectacular sieges  :P

There are certain types of ammunition that do just that though, so you could probably just mod in high-impact bullets. Which I did. A goblin flying halfway across the screen after being shot is hilarious to watch.
