I decided today to clean up my bookmarks in Firefox. This was partly prompted by general cleaning mode, partly by the fact it was taking over 45 seconds to scroll from the top of the bookmarks to the bottom.

It was a weird history of things I was interested in a given point of time.

But maybe I should stop bookmarking things as half the time I never get around to going back to the bookmark site. Although this was partly due to the ever growing size of the bookmark list.

AH FUCK NOW I'M BECOMING RECURSIVE.

you can make backups of your bookmarks. And sub-folders, for that matter. I keep a separate folder for interesting articles I find (In fact, I keep them separated by topic).

only 45?
Heh, the total mess that is my bookmarks, tabs, sessions, backups, addons, etc. for firefox its becoming an entire science on it's own. Dosn't mean it's disorganized, just that I organize it in a very complex way.
Sometimes I think it's on the brink of archiving sentience, but sapience is a few years ahead.

I usually organize my bookmarks on days when nothing else is happening. Otherwise, they just clutter up the list.

I only bookmark sites for games I'm playing actively, and webcomics.

Webcomics probably make up 9/10ths of my bookmarks at this point.

I sorted out all the webcomics in my bookmarks by update schedule.
The largest subfolder is "sometimes."

Gah, *cough* splutter. Cleaned.

I could cull down my bookmarks more but at lot if it I've filled away for later projects. A lot of the sites I mark are good for things inspiration.

In fact the only book marks I really use are the ones along the top in the bookmark bar.

However I did come across some great old sites such as:
http://nadshot.com/ a site about people getting hit in the nads.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=GG7WYCt4SRo&feature=related Pirate song from Curse of Monkey Island
http://www.rollzero.com/chads-letters Post crazy compliant letters to people. See how they respond.

I like bookmarking interesting science newsflashes. I check the headlines, and if there is something particularily interesting I download the article using the university's suscription
