Has this story always moved as slow as a molasses lathered snail?

More like as slow as a mole ass lathered snail.

Well... sorta'. Sometimes it skips along pretty briskly for a bit. When you read through the whole thing again there's patches that almost give you whiplash. But overall it's pretty sluggish. Which is alright, don't need breakneck bathell bumrush all the time.

I really, really hope that at some point the intergalactic fuckery circus starts to make something that resembles, a least in some twisted way, any sense.

It already sorta' does. Gamzee got mindfucked by Dave and decided to make it (being the juggalo mythos) happen (which was sorta' necessary to have the mythos exist to begin with). And so we have what we have. Paradox shenanigans.

Gammy is juggalo, uh. God before God. I guess Caliborn is, like, juggalo Jesus. Or something.

If you're talking about the fuckery circus being specifically the clown dudes, anyway. Paradox reacharound man, but basically makes a fairly consistent sort of sense, so far.

A skeleton mime just stole a pirate coat, explain that.

Honestly, Putnam probably got it right. Or at least pretty close to right. Gams is pulling Boney's strings so that the jug-myth happens. You need the paraphernalia to get it done right.

The skeleton mime wants to give it to a leprechaun so he can modify it into something worthy of an indestructable Cherub. Named English.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Wait, did Caliborn just steal/ironically echo Jake's line about believing in things hard enough for them to be real? Man, Caliborn, I thought you said someone'd have to really impress you before you stole any of their schtick...

Which is even better considering the line's originally from Tavros!

Maybe Jake did/is doing/will do (fuck tense, where we're going we don't need tense) something that impresses him?

What no. He's obviously recovering the young lady-troll's discarded apparel so as to be a gentleman.
Clearly he doesn't want to interrupt her badassery and as such, shall wait until a more opportune time to return it to her.
Because mimes are classy as fuck. :v
