 It seems Hussie is giving us a bunch of small flashes that are basically his usual animated gifs with a preloader. I dunno how to feel about this, although it will work wonders for making us less excited for a huge great flash every time we see a preloader. Ultimately this is just him looking at new ways of utilizing the medium he has, giving us something that is more complex than a gif but not as intensive as an entire music-based flash.

Gif's and pngs bloat massively, for what he's doing in those short flashes.

Namely, gradients will screw up a regular png and gif if they are put at the beginning.
Thus they are flashes, out of necessity.

I am somewhat saddened by the lack of love for Requiem of Sunshine and Rainbows.

It's between Requiem, Rex Duodecim and Killed by BR8K Spider!!!!!!!! for me. Difficult to choose. End of Br8k Spider is making me lean towards the other two.

I am somewhat saddened by the lack of love for Requiem of Sunshine and Rainbows.

I liked it; my first listen through, I stopped what I was doing to see what it was called.  Like most of the tunes, it gets really good around halfway in.

Even if most of the album is just remasters, remixes, and refrains (oh the refrains), I'm honestly impressed with this playlist.  While there's certainly gradients of quality, every single tune is good on its own, which I have to say is a Homestuck first for me.  Naturally, when several of the songs are repeated versions of previous tunes, it's hard to totally miss, but you can't beat "all killer no filler".  Alternia was the only album I "bought", because I was lured in by the promise of extra "songs", most of which turned out to be less than a minute long.  This is what that album should have been, but of course, time and inspiration don't work that way.  I'll probably buy this one, since I doubt it'll disappoint like the original did.

I'm also buying it in the hope that one of the extra songs is a Sollux tune, since he seems to be the only guy left out of the provided tracks.  Hmm, and Feferi too I think.

 Huh, I'm surprised his forumspring answers didn't have any followup on experimenting with the medium and making an inbetween for flash and a slurry of gifs. It does seem to be a major metatheme for the comic, which while possibly not integral to the narrative is a distinct part of the art style. Somebody a bit more experienced could do a better job of explaining it, but this seems like the kind of thing he would be all over about. Even I'm excited for it in the same vein as Hussnasty mode or the Alterniabound-style flashes.
