I don't know why I never bothered asking before, but when did the entire Fanartist Hivemind decide that Trolls have pointed ears?  I know we've never seen any ears in the comic proper.

 I believe there was a sketch Hussie made at some con back when the trolls were first being revealed where he drew Terezi with long ears, but they were long in the sense that Hussie draws people with cartoonishly large ears as a part of his style. That is a possible explanation for them being larger than invisible. Although this does not answer the question about them being pointed.

 I think people just find long pointed elf-like ears neat. I don't really have issues with them so long as artists don't make them too elf-like.

I kinda like the troll pointed ear thing, because to me, it's kinda like the thing Skeptic did with troll noses. It helps give them the appearance of not being human, without making them seem monstrous. In my opinion, anyway. Though it's probably just because the artists think the ears are cool.

While that's certainly Hussie's style, those are definitely not just big human ears.  It does make more sense now how it would have started, but I'm sure it's just self-perpetuating now.  Of course, Hussie will probably never make a comic panel with any ears in it (besides dog ears), which looks kinda weird.

I don't have a problem with it by any means.  I could never tell if it was an "elf-like" thing or a Mr. Spock thing, who of course was a space-elf.  I kinda like the pointy ears, because they compliment the horns and universal wild hair, for a big spiky bush of a head despite still being essentially human.

The only way someone could edit this any more Jade-like would be if they added teeth. Oh my Gog it all makes sense now. Jade's ripped-skirt dress... she was ripped STRAIGHT FROM THE ANIMES. I knew Hussie was always a hardcore anime fan at heart.
