Couldn't a five-gender also work by having 4 reproducers and 1 incubator? It'd be sort of the same as 2 or 3, except that during mitosis the cells split twice instead of once.

Okay, theoretically any number that's a power of two or power of two +1 would work with that specific system or the one of them incubates thing. And that's just with one system. That's not even considering the neuter thing, and the multiple "castes".
