That's a good question. Maybe John is somehow fundamentally 'different' from everyone else? Or maybe rose isn't really on the surface, and there's something underwater... The only thing John got was chunks of land that had already been with his house. Assuming Jade never gets a boat, that's more or less equivalent to what she has now.

Any bets on what the fourth wanderer will be? We have a mayor, a policeman/judge, and a postwoman. I'm gonna go with something vaguely medical, a doctor I think. Although, a landscape artist/town gardener would also fit...
