The obvious solution?

Death could never stop grandpa. Ever.
My theory is he challenged death to The Most Dangerous Game for his soul.

And he therefore lives on in the only place with game monsters bigger than on earth.

The problem with that is that Death already caught him.

I would have thought The Most Dangerous Game would be hunting Death himself.

My guess is, he's not alive at all.  Watch, it'll be the stuffing of him, or something that looks like him, or something.  He's totally dead, and it's not what it appears.  Like everything.

Eh, I think it's more likely Jade just thinks he's dead because he telemaportaled off, possibly in an explosion.

But meh. Part of me stopped caring. Like problem sleuth, it's going through a phase where it's not very good.

 Death: Alright, one game.
Gramps: The most dangerous game. Three days. One hour head start.
Death: I can travel across the multiverse to bring death.
Gramps: Right. I'll give you a three hour head start then.

What will Death's incarnation in Homestuck be?

It turns out that Gramps kills death, but in the area beyond time known as the afterlife. This area is both without time and at every time, so technically Gramps both wins and looses. Thus Gramps will be alive again, but after doing some work for Death for a while.

If he kills death, then anything he kills won't stay dead anymore.

Then he'll just have to kill them twice.

IDE/THEORY: Gramps is playing a never-ending the most dangerous game against himself (time travel was involved), and holds the positions of death, judgement, and afterlife. (the last one is sorts like Valhalla... shrunk down in his immune system!)
