Unfortunately the Windows VM  only runs on business/enterprise editions of Windows, so even if you have Windows 7 (name any version besides Business/Enterprise) MS's VM will read as an "Invalid OS"

If you have a copy of the WinXP CD though you could try "Sun Virtual Box" though since they got taken/over bought by Oracle, It might lose it's free-ness along with the Oo.O

Virtual machines should run on the Professional and Ultimate editions.

Doesnt work with the newest Mayday repack, says 'invalid version'...

EDIT:
Neither does the standard Reveal.exe but Reveal2.exe DOES, this may be related...

I've decided to take a much different approach to fort design from my usual methods, and the end result is Gearholes.

Cool.  It's a fortress that looks like the product of evolution.  And paranoia.  :)

Cool.  It's a fortress that looks like the product of evolution.  And paranoia.  :)

It is on both counts.  Goblins have this nasty habit of catching these particular Dwarves unawares while they're all hauling wood or gallivanting out in the woods and convening with nature like a bunch of Elves.  I got so irritated with their stupidity that I set out decoy animals as bait to force ambushes to reveal, giving them ample time to stop being idiots and get back inside when the Gobbos decide to attack.  I also made a longer entry hall with opposed raising bridges over the shallow pool, because I was sick of the Gobbo bowmen killing the war dogs while standing just in front of the traps.  They try that now, they'll get flung into the sky.

EDIT: This proves that paranoia nicely.

Sometimes forts built around the idea of thwarting invaders can get very interesting.

they pave their roads with steel

Now all we need is for lightning to be implemented.

Heh, indeed.  Fun would be had by all (except the poor Dorfs stuck on the road when the bolt hits).  Although if electrocution through conduction ever did get implemented, I'd be building an outdoor copper courtyard for the nobles to hang out in the second I got word that the baron was on his way.

When's the next release? I have an awesome embark location, but I can't see it in Visfort due to incompatibilities. :(

Note: Using d18

Drops for 4 levels, and then a reasonably sized river. And the place is riddled with my avatar.

Oh, cool, look at the shape of that map! It's a dragon-carp, spitting something to the north!

This is DF, and it's green.  The only possibility is projectile vomit.
