possible to make no migrants come to the fortress but make dwarves still able to breed?

I could be wrong.  What would you call it when you spend that much time obsessing over something that it turns out you don't even like?

I believe the fortress # limit in init will change that. Normally it's set to 200, just set it very low and you should still get babies, just not migrants.

There's a second way of doing it: Gen a world that has zero surviving dwarf civs. By modifying the entity raw to create only 1 civilization and lots of the other races, it should only take a few tries. Bear in mind this method means you'll also get no nobles, and no mountainhome caravan.

Setting [POPULATION_CAP:200] to [POPULATION_CAP:0] should make it so no migrants come but you can still have babies.

And that means you'll have to magmarise any dragons that come along if you can't sell them.

thx, i didn't knew that popcap only dissallowing migrants to come, i though it was migrants AND kids
i've set popcap to 7 and no migrants YAY, no kids yet yeather -.-

Probably it blocks pregnancies too. I don't know. You can change the cap every season, although it's a pain in the arse...

It doesn't cap pregnancies. The child/baby cap caps pregnancies.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Magma a Dragon?  I just lock everyone indoors, let it walk over the weapon and stone-fall traps at my entrance, then send my six legendary wrestlers into the fray while it's stunned.

They twist that dragon into a pretzel, then choke it to death, and I get dragon meat and bones.  Hello awesome.

Alternatively, use Axedwarves so you get more than one stack of dragon bone, but the last time I had a dragon show up it was before I got my steel industry running.

Eww. The first dragon that walked to my base was caught in a cage trap- it's a waste to kill a dragon.

You need some *Dragon Tallow Roast* to eat while wearing your -Dragon Bone Bracelet- and your -Dragon Bone Crown- sitting next to your -Dragon Skull Totem- decorated with hanging rings of dragon bone and menacing with spikes of dragon bone. Be sure to put on your -Dragon Leather Jerkin-!
