Well, it doesn't really matter either way considering the forum guidelines laid out at the top of every page state: "You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law."

Not like any of the instances I've seen where underage porn is mentioned have been redeemable anyway, it's mostly just: "I like <name drop some hentai featuring young girls> because I <want to shock you/throw around my sexual fetishes/think I'm on 4chan>"

Followed by someone else chimming in: "I don't like that one because the girls don't look young enough hurr hurr"

Just ban 'em.

They are only trouble. Just delete them and tell everyone to discuss the non-B12 stuff somewhere else. We do not need to go and discuss religion, politics and loli sex on this forum when there are like a billion other places to do that.

If you want people to stop discussing politics, religion and sex, then all you need to do is restrict GD, but not the other forums, those are much more tamer. Or you can have a guidline that prohibits people from jumping into said topics. Deleting the entirity of Finally... as well as othergames is just too excessive, and may alienate some of the forum goers.

If it really gets to you so much that you have to start a topic about it, then you can just ignore it. But, really, if it does bother you, then I don't think the internet is the best way to spend your time.

I don't know if I have to write and enforce further guidelines or what, since my current guidelines aren't working, but if my morning routine consists not of thinking about what I'm going to do in DF but rather coming over here to make sure you guys aren't actively trying to fuck up my life, there's something wrong.

I don't think the religion or politics threads are the problem, I think I've seen one or two of those threads get locked before. But the the lolicon/guro/yuri/ohgodwhatisthatmyeyesburn? Always get locked.

It think it's something the community has to solve, a bit like don't feed the trolls. I don't think we need something as drastic as shutting down all non DF boards, GD seems to be the only one with problems here.

If it really gets to you so much that you have to start a topic about it, then you can just ignore it. But, really, if it does bother you, then I don't think the internet is the best way to spend your time.

If it bothers me I just report it in the hopes of said person getting muted, or banned.

I think that what is happening at the moment is just fine, with Toady muting trouble-makers for a few weeks. It's not a major problem, and the Finally section is doing great. Some people are just thin-skinned.

The Creative projects does alright and Forum Games manages to stay clean 90% of the time, but this should not be an issue at all and Toady shouldn't have to watch this forum like a hawk. The Finally... section should either get it's act together and avoid being a problem like VN was, or go the way of VN.

The main reason i acctually stay on the B12 forums is because of the other games/Finally... section. Its just way to long between releases to acctually make me bothered to take an interest in what other people have to say about DF. Its a shame I know, but its what its like.

aye, need to remember that (edit: reffering to Cthulhu's post) when we're discussing hypothetical solutions to the problem. 99% of the forum can be deleted but the people who were causing problems are still going to be around (well... maybe not if 99% of the forums were deleted but y'know) and even if we ban them, they're just going to be replaced eventually by someone who doesn't understand the limits of discussion here or by people who are just having... off days.

So really, if we're trying to think of some way to help fix the problem (and we should try to, since we're all here because we enjoy the games the brothers make and we don't want to be the cause of either losing patience), we should think a little deeper than 'GD sucks, get rid of GD and everything'll be good again'. Also we shouldn't talk about fetishes, that could help :p

I second this, I'm an inhabitant of Other Games mainly and I don't often come in here and read threads unless I'm bored but it doesn't seem that bad. I think the Japanese ban list thread was always going to get locked, it was pretty inevitable really considering the subject matter combined with the tendency for threads to derail here.
Anyhow we have a nice enough community here and just wiping it off would be a waste.

Also we shouldn't talk about fetishes, that could help :p
