LSTAR's Spring Cleaning
« on: January 18, 2008, 09:37:00 am »

I played StA:1 recently. I broke my bow on a rabbit's head and walked about for a bit. I liked the way you could get a description of things' internal organs. That was nice.

Okay! I admit it! I was just tired of seeing qwertyuiopas' name here all the time! I will have my immortality!

(And I'm well aware of the irony, and that that's not in reference to what you think it is...)

I could never play the game without it locking up long enough for anything cool to happen  :(

If only we had one of earlier, better editions.
I heard you actually had some different weapons except the bow...

You did, along with towns.

I'd love to play one of those versions, for historical value if nothing else

STA is a historical relic now. Perhaps we should have one of our dedicated archaeologists try to dig it up a bit more..

I actually enjoy the game quite a bit ^^, however not has much as DF. It would be great to play with towns and more weapons, which is what I have always thought was missing most.

Well, if it was left to the community to improve....
But that means releasing some of DF's code, since I think it still uses some of STA'a combat system...

I don't know, but I think toady based DF on STA, so some of it should be there...

Actually, I just remembered that I heard in a recent interview that both were made at the same time. STA was canceled to work on DF, since STA was getting nowhere to slowly..

It seems to me that DF got the whole story line type thingy from STA.  I doubt much STA code is actually in DF.  That's what Kobold Quest is for, and it's open source.
