What is this SAT? It sounds really ominous like some sort of brain washing device that if you don't answer properly you get thrown out of the country.
Basically.
Only substitute "work at McDonalds for the rest of your life" instead of "thrown out of the country".

I'm going to take it in a couple years, but in 4th grade (Out of some program that let you take the SAT early, just to see what it's like) I scored:

Critical Reading: 610
Math: 550
Writing: 670

Hopefully I'll be able to get a little higher then that, next time.  ;)

I can't remember what I got on each different test.  I remember my math score was embarrassing though.

EDIT:  Found it.

36 in English,
23 in math,
31 in reading,
25 in science.

That's ACT though, not SAT

Got a 27 when I took the ACT. Going to college this fall at UMN. I guarantee if I took the test again right now I would get at least a 30+. Reading is the easiest part with science being the subject that killed me. For that particular year a lot of people had trouble with the science. Don't look too much into those tests anyway. I was taking Algebra II at the time I took the class when many of my peers were in pre-calculus and other advanced classes for that year because I was a lazy ass who really didn't care about AP classes. It wasn't until when I started to apply for colleges when I soon realized how important the rigor of your schedule is. It really isn't a test about how smart you are, but what you remember from classes you have taken before.

What are SATs? Are they college entrance exams? I've never understood what they are. :(

Sort of. They are actually a privately-administered test that's supposed to predict performance in college, and is used as such. But it's not official or binding, so it's not like "This score gets you into this college" or anything like that. It's more like "This score gives you an indication of the types of colleges you might be able to get into, if the other factors (grades, essays, rec letters, extracurriculars, etc.) are at about the same level".

You beat me overall by 10 points. :U

By the way, how did you guys do on the PSAT? I missed two questions on the entire test, and I bring it up every chance I get, because what gives my life meaning.

I was in the last year in the country to do year 9 SATs.  I got the maximum level in all three subjects, but that was mainly because IT WAS REALLY EASY.

I took the old version and got 1450 (650 on Math 800 on verbal). I also took the Writing SAT2 which is the third section of the current one and got an 800. That means I would have gotten 2250 on the new one. Conclusion, I rule ass.

I took it when applying to MIT for fun two years ago.
Spoiler: SAT (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: ACT (click to show/hide)

Yeah, I did something really stupid there and facepalmed when I realized it :P

Anyway, american exams are garbage. I only answered like half of the science test questions, randomly circled the other half, and got high enough marks in it. A for effort indeed. Same with the Mathematics 2 SAT test.
