you can carve fortifications to the end of the map, which would allow you to drain that water =)

Not bad for an early fort. I'd suggest making sure your starting 7 have better rooms than the nobles. Also, if you fully engrave that dining room, it'll probably go up to legendary. Legendary dining rooms are good enough to keep your dwarves happy even after losing a family member/spouse recently.

That wouldn't work. There is still the bottleneck to the left which is where my woodcutter likes to go.

The red rectangle shows the message the most.
The two dwarf images are surrounded by &s. But not just demons...
Tentacle demons. In fact, every & in this room is a tentacle demon.

EDIT: I checked the two center engravings. The one in the middle is a dwarf surrounded by dwarves.
The bottom one is dwarves laboring.

One frog demon got killed, the other is trapped in a pool. He killed a miner and the ONLY champion in my fort.

Fuck. Nevermind. My fortress is screwed. I'm getting out of here while I can.
