And there, in front of my Miners face, my Miner who is standing in the middle of a Bituminous Coal vein he just dug into, is the Magma Pipe, and two Fire Imps.

My Miner pulled a Matrix bullet-dodge on the fireballs and got out completely unscathed, but all that lovely coal is burning away merrily now


Fortunately almost the entire map is a mix of Claystone and Chalk, and i've revealed at least two other coal veins and a lignite vein, so i'm not short on coke, but damn, tunneling through a coal vein to discover a pair of Fire Imps 10 feet in front of you has got to give you nightmares.

I think i'm going to give that Miner a statue alcove in his bedroom.

And i'm not touching those veins; Dorfs are far too stupid when it comes to fire. I've found over half a dozen other coal and lignite veins, and that's just in one corner of one z level (i have 3 - 4 of sedimentary to exploit) so i have no real need for these veins, and i don't feel like setting half my miners on fire trying to dig through flaming coal seams

There's that record key near the rest. I so wanted to see flaming dorfs mining out flaming coal. Meh,  I'll do it myself
