Remember Aqizzar, it's more effective to have a few single height slopes decent distances away from eachother than a few large ramps. People have done tests that showed a cart actually goes on for fewer blocks on a perfect slope than a staggered slope.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I'm going to use a powered train.  It's waaay too fucking long to ride by gravity, let alone push.  Besides, it's more fun to watch the countryside go by.

Although I did just realize that part of the track goes next to an overhang so large it's black at the back.  I found a couple skeletons walking around there, in the middle of the day.  Hey, every trip needs a little excitement.

You could presumably include hills as accelerators, with the powered cart to shove you up them at a reasonable speed...

Just use boosters. In my experience, a 4 block flat booster will propel your cart about 125 blocks on a flat course, at a far faster speed than a powered cart. Further, if your track goes simply from A to B, you don't need to do any fancy designing to make it self resetting.

Wasn't the booster glitch fixed?

Nope, still works, in singleplayer at least.

Which, seeing as how rails don't work in SMP yet, probably means it still works.  ;D

So, I had some ideas for psudo-games for SMP once health and monsters are in. Any of these sound like fun?

Traitor made me think you should make Space Station 13 in Minecraft. Only, instead of a space station, you'd have a submarine.

It's not as strong anymore, based on the route I made... I used to be able to cross it with a single booster, now I need 2.

Tracks can only be laid orthogonally, so all tracks make use of Manhattan distances.

Minecarts can travel diagonally.

That [Magma] is a bit deep down there, don't you think?
You really aren't thinking like a dwarf.

If you think it is down too far, you move it up until it reaches an acceptable elevation.
