I say the "J" in Jaycraft made of gold blocks, with normal text for the rest.

Also, I put up a basic page for the contest here.

That server's about as stable as a 300-pound drunk guy standing on one foot on top of a lightning rod in a hurricane. I'm really tempted to just grab the downloadable client...

Ghasts sound like fun. Wonder what makes them annoying - high movement speed? An attack range longer than yours (*gulp*)? I shudder to think.

I'm really tempted to just grab the downloadable client...
Except it won't help you log in to multiplayer servers.

But it will let you play offline, so when Minecraft.net is down you can still play.

What? I use the downloadable for SMP all the time. Or are you talking about something else?

Hmmm I want your oppinion

I just started Minecraft (after a ton of work just to buy it) and I can either look at a Wiki to learn everything instantly

Or just experiment and see what combinations exist.

Which would you say is the better way to go? Is the game too annoying to put up with when you don't know how to build?

Glance at the crafting page on the wiki. Beyond that it's pretty intuitive really.

You'll probably ragequit your first world pretty quickly to start fresh once you get the hang of things.

Well I managed to build a shack with double doors first day.

Though my first world looks really REALLY boring. (it is just a series of hills)

Has anyone ever made or played a maze on a map? I'm currently building one.

I plan to build it up like the walls on the right hand side and having this as a 'stage 1' kind of thing. Then the second stage is planned to be underground then possibly the third being up in the air.

Using this world as my building world, sometimes get the materials legitimately (all the dirt for this maze for instance has slowly been collected on my other constructions, decided to do a maze to use it all up. And some materials not so legitimately, 64 diamond picks for example :P. I waited to find the diamond first mind.

So yeah, does anyone have any interest in Mazes? Know of any good maps?

I would advise making mazes with 3x3 wide halls, as these 2x1 halls are just terribly disorienting and claustrophobic. And while those may be desirable traits they are also present in every MC maze ever.
