Looks like the Modded Minecraft Scene is preparing to update soon. First public pack for 1.14 is up!

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/ftb-unstable-1-14

Silent's gems 3 seems to be replacing tinkers at least in this pack.
Too bad for early ore doubling.

I have not used any sort of mods for Minecraft literally for years, just vanilla. In fact, when I looked in the mod folder, there were mods in there I have zero recollection of ever downloading or using, and all of it was pretty much unusable for the current version of Minecraft. I have no idea how to install/play a modpack I discovered a few days ago(RLCraft). The main statement by the modpack author is "use Twitch" but nearly every comment about the Twitch launcher I've seen is pretty negative(and I'm inclined to believe them). I've seen instructions to run it with Forge, but they were unclear.

The Twitch launcher is pretty awful, yeah. Mainly in mod installation. I've never had it install a mod right the first time, so it's kind of a matter of beating your head against it until it yields.

I have not played Minecraft in a couple of years...but back when I did, I installed and used several different modpacks using the Twitch launcher. The launcher made it easy to find, install, and switch between mods on the fly. I never had any issues.

But like I said, that was a while ago. Something may have changed since then.

MultiMC can install twitch packs from zip. I've totally ditched the twitch launcher for it now

My main gripe with Twitch launcher is that it goes through an update process every time you launch it. Then there's all the bloat it throws at you while you are navigating to your Minecraft modpacks. Which are hidden behind layers of crap you don't care about.

Other than that, it's not much different from the Curse launcher.

Is the whole "serve server packs" thing still a "coming real soon now" feature in Twitch, or are server packs still an exercise in futility and infuriation?

Has anyone else tried RLCraft? I managed to finally get a decent start. Dug myself a decent hobbit-hole that isn't being spawn-camped by a dragon or some other instant-death nasty. Armed myself with a stone spear and crude wooden shield, and am reasonably confident about taking basic mobs with those.

Is there any tool besides the flint knife that can harvest fibers from grass? Flint is a pain to acquire, and so replacing the knife is more difficult.

Meh, another update that doesn't hold my interest... But well, I've always had the opinion that the multidimensional approach adding the Nether and the End was a bad move by Notch. I mean, if you had a game with an almost infinite world bigger than the planet Neptune, why on Earth do you need to add more dimensions? Yeah, because it's easier to start a new Java class than working on the existing ones. Lazy programming.

I wonder if you could fit every Minecraft chunk that's actually been created into a single world.

Good question...
