I had an idea for a mafia and I want to know if you think it's a good or bad one.
Basically, there are two sides, heroes and the mafia, the third party roles. Those who have no role are just trying to survive. The heroes are trying to kill the mafia and all hostile third parties. The mafia are trying to kill anyone who hasn't joined them and will win when they have a majority or all surviving players have joined their cause. Townsfolk can form alliances with any other player under conditions yet to be decided and can break them at any time.
The roles I have so far are:
Heroes:
Detective: Can investigate one person each night to discover his role, knows the identity of the vigilante.
Vigilante: Can kill one person each night, knows the identity of the detective.
Doctor: Each night he can choose one person to protect. If the protectee is targeted by a killer the Doctor will save him. Only works once per night.
Bodyguard: Each night he can choose one person to protect. If the person is targeted by a killer, the Bodyguard will die instead. Will reveal the identity of the killer to the protectee.
Mafia:
Goon: Votes on who the mafia targets and who does the killing.
Leader: Night kill vote counts twice. If he is investigated by the Detective he shows as a no role townie. A potential target of the bounty hunter.
Third Party roles:
Mass Murderer: can kill one person per night. Trying to kill everyone else.
Bounty Hunter: has two possible goals: catch the mass murderer or catch the mafia leader. Once per game he can choose someone to grab. If the target is his goal he wins, otherwise he loses. If there is no player with the role he is after he just has to survive (so he can continue his search). If his target is killed he wins
Silver Tongue: to win he must align himself with all sides. Wins if he is aligned with the winning side. Each day he can approach a player and side with him. Jealous Husband, Vigilante, Mafia Leader and Nasty Old Man are immune to this.
Jealous Husband: trying to kill Silver Tongue. If Silver Tongue is killed he wins. Once per game he can kill a player. If the victim is the Silver Tongue he wins with a bonus. If not he has to use other methods to eliminate his target.
Nasty Old Man: No one likes this man. Has the same goals as a normal townie with the add challenge of not being able to ally with anyone. Can escape death once and doesn't count as an enemy of the mafia.
Abilities:
I don't have any so far but NOM (I didn't notice anything about that acronym 'till just now) might fit here.
I am
not doing this right now, since it's incomplete and everything. I want help with the roles at the very least. Any suggestions for the name?
