I've got an injured cheesemaker who was ambushed during an immigration wave. Since he lost 2 3/4 out of 4 limbs and mangled his throat I immediately locked the door to his room once he was on the bed. The unconscious, exhausted, and extreme pain status in wounds hasn't gone away yet, and he hasn't become hungry or thirsty. I locked the door to his room 2 years ago, how is he still alive?

It looks like he's in a state of job cancellation semi-immortality. Knocking him out with cave-in dust will probably jostle him out of it and make him bleed to death nigh instantly.

I recommend you build a bed outside (by building a little above ground stone canopy), assign the wounded cheesemaker to it, deconstruct his bed, wait for a dwarf to rescue him and put him in the bed, and then cause a collapse nearby.

This won't work if you have the economy, unfortunately. Actually, it could, if you deconstructed every unclaimed bed, including those in your barracks, but who wants to do all that just to see a cheesemaker die?

Perhaps this should be posted in the Bug Reports subforum, because it sounds like a serious bug.

Entomb him somewhere in the deepest, darkest recesses of your fortress behind locked doors and hundreds of traps.

Someday, he will emerge from his torpor fully healed and invulnerable, a god of cheesemakers ready to flood the world with dairy products.

I have a feeling the poor girl's throat is going to heal one season and she'll wake up, only to find out we don't make cheese at this fortress. The shock will probably kill her, if it doesn't then I feel sorry for whoever has to face the new recruit in battle.

I do find it funny that her only stat is Tough. No wonder dwarves that are superdwarvenly tough can brush off severe wounds in a few days. Strangely enough the dwarf doesn't appear to be in limbo since the "Doesn't care much for anything" thought is in her personality page now.
