On a related note, how do I stop towercaps from growing on the water dump spots?

I think the answer is either build it in midair so there's nothing there (and it makes mist)...
Or build floor tiles there?  But then you can't put trap plates?

If it makes squares muddy as it passes over, that brings an odd question, how many tiles CAN you muddy with pumps and a single 7/7 tile of water?

I've been wrong before.  It MIGHT be road tiles, ALSO made with those platinum blocks....

I can confirm that trees will grow on constructed floors. If you flood an artificial multi-floored tower, you can turn the whole thing into a tree/farming structure.

paved Roads (i think stockpiles too) will conceal muddied tiles, preventing trees from maturing (not sure if it prevents sprouting)

why don't towercaps grow in the underground rivers and clog them?

Can/should I designate a stockpile the entire length of my river, and everywhere else I have water to keep towercaps from growing?

A stockpile with all items disabled and 0 barrels / 0 bins?

No; I've seen them grow under an underground lake. And others have had them grow in their water pipes.

Blast, you can't build statues on paved roads. That means:

Urist Mcdwarf cancels stuff: Dangerous Terrain. x999

Hm. Would using the restricted traffic designation on those spots keep dwarfs off them entirely? I installed the mist generator in the highest traffic part of my fortress, see... (Central staircase)

Restricting might work, but it doesn't stop them from [mining, building, engraving, etc.] from the left side if possible. Even if you set the value to 100. Yeah... that needs to be fixed.

On a related note, my power system currently requires 256. I think half of that is the mister. I've got 4 windmills and 4 waterwheels with another 4 windmills being built. At this rate, I could have one in the barracks as well as my dining room.

Heh, power.

Among the first things I did when I set up in Dwarf Heaven was to claim part of the brook by walling it off: You know, that part that runs between two mountains? And paving it over with waterwheels with a power feed running to my fort.

Honestly, I never really had a need for power before finding this thing and finally building it. Now I'm building a fort that is capable of sustaining two of these devices (8 pumps each) called Gearmaze. It will need lots of power.
The name itself is actually old from one of my first games, before I understood how to use power.

Eh... On another related note, how do I unmuddy some ground? It's got masterpiece engravings on it, unfortunately, and towercaps will deface the engravings if they grow there, right?

You have a couple of options:
-Have somebody clean it up
-Build a paved road over it
-Place a statue on top
