These are exactly my thoughts on school. I will not use any of this shit I learn, except for whatever courses I take for what I want to do. Why bother with all that other shit? Srsly -_-

Yeah, it does. Assholes, like diamonds, are forever but, unlike diamonds, they are not sought after and, like diamonds (unfortunately), you won't deal with them very much.

We sort of chill in a big room in free periods and lunch and then wander off to lessons when we have to.

Well, yeah, that's college.  We're complaining about American grade-schools, which function for like day-cares and socialization centers than anything having to do with direct instruction.

I had two history teachers in high school who knew less about the War of 1812 than I did, and had to be reminded that it happened at all.  Naturally, they weren't really history teachers, just coaches with a free period.

Depends on where you are in the UK, I guess. In my 6th form they treat us in the same patronizing manner they treated us for the rest of school.

I agree with Maggarg, the American school system seems very alien here (I'm not in the UK, but not in America either). I'm in my first year of high school, and all's well. Sure, there are annoying people around, but we get to ignore them most of the time, as they are more or less the minority. Although it might be because my school has very strict disciplinary rules.

Whenever I watched American shows about high school, with their jocks and bullies and nerds and popular people and unpopular people and sitting at the wrong table of the cafeteria if you're the wrong social status, and people being given wedgies and shoved into lockers, or simply getting the crap beaten out of them constantly, and brainless cheerleaders talking like, "like that is totally awesome!", I always thought to myself "How do they come up with this shit? Fiction is so fun."

I go to a Canadian highschool, and every day I have to stop myself from brutally murdering 4/5 of the students.
The tales you hear about American/Canadian highschools are bull, its a hell of alot worse.

About two thirds of the kids think they are "gansta", and "badass", and loudly talk in class while playing rap music, and generally disrespect and piss off everyone else intentionally, just because they think their "homies" will back them up.

They think they are so damn cool and everyone likes them, but in reality everyone in the school, including teachers, hates them with a burning passion.

They should seriously get the f*** out.
They think they are gansters, besides the fact that real gansters don't go to school, and real gansters wouldn't hang out in front of the school all day up until about 5pm.

I have alot more to say about highschool, but I think I will stop here.
