Thanks for the praise guys, I appreciate it.
If people like you didn't make crazy dwarfy projects, I wouldn't have tried one myself. For all its size, mine is really just a standard fortress.
That's a bloody strange definition of normal.
Well, all I mean is that it isn't anything like a floating ocean fortress, or a magma pipe tower, or a giant glass - water filled fortress, or a pirate ship, or a space ship, or a gigantic pyramid, or a fortress built into a giant bridge, etc. etc. - it's just a good ol' beefed up castle.
Quantum: Oh my goodness. That is amazing! That's probably going down as one of the crowning achievements in this version, and you're already setting an impressive bar for forts in the next version! What're the specs on your computer you made that with? What size is the region? What FPS do you get? What macro-ish tools do you use, if any?
I run it mostly on my laptop - 1.83 GHz, 3 GB RAM, and a pretty mediocre video card. The region is 7x7 I think. Average FPS is 8-12, which I didn't even realize was bad until I saw a friend's computer run DF -.-.
I don't use any tools, the only change to the game is in the init file and the graphics. Most parts of the fortress run by themselves now, so it only requires heavy attention to designate constructions, and to unpause whenever something happens. Besides that, a whole lot of waiting.
