It is expressly in the plans for the future to be able to grab the guts and do all manner of things with them though, including strangling the person with them.  Just not now, for this release.

That Kitten really needs to learn how to speak properly. The typo entirely ruined the joke!

Anyhow, so now that the game is no longer a model of the worst predictions of denominal chaos it should work a bit better.

Though I have no idea how the world simply updating speach suddenly thrown humanity into religious chaos.

Although I don't think you'll ever be able to strangle someone until the head pops off.  I mean seriously.  There's a spine holding it on.

You would need to have a LOT of strength...

You ever tried to crush a skull with your own bare hands? it is tougher then it looks. It took me five tries yesterday to pull it off.

I'm pretty sure if you tried to pop someone's head off like that (as opposed to merely strangling them to death), the guts would give way before you succeeded.  Though that merely gives your victim a different problem (in addition to the many he already presumably had).

I think we have a murderer in our midst.  :o

Anyways, did you...

a.) Try crushing the same individuals' skull and  were successful the fifth time, or
b.) Did you attempt to crush the skull of five seperate individuals and succeeded in crushing the fifth persons' skull the first time?

Out of curiosity.

That's an important distinction.  Five attempts upon the same skull could have damaged it repeatedly before it finally gave way.

Alternatively, th fifth person might have had unusually fragile bones.

What if you modded the creature so its guts are made of steel and its spine/bones are made of a cheese-like substance?... Then its head should pop right off...

I am a bit more surprised you immediately jumped to the conclusion that I was crushing the skull of a living fleshy person.

Or a dead un-fleshy person.  Or a non-person.

You pinch the Skeletal Human in the head!  x5

Speaking of, is it even possible to find undead humanoids in the current version?  I tried the 2D Adventure Mode the other day, and the ruins were crawling with horribly tenacious skeletons.

Well, if you're lucky enough, you can get skeletal titans, giants, etc. But aye, I never saw a skeletal human, Elf, dwarf, goblin, or kobold, except for a few worldgen gods.

Yeah, I should have said civilized humanoids.  Maybe they never appeared outside of ruins, and when Toady removed the old-style ruins, there was no longer any way for them to show up.  It's kind of sad because graphics pack makers still diligently include skeletal/zombie humans that never get seen in-game.

That's another facet of randomized creatures that'll be hard for graphics packs to handle -- the sphere-based afflictions, which will supplant zombies and skeletons in the near future, will have varied and probably overlapping effects.  Yet another reason to start thinking (okay, fantasizing) about procedural creature graphics.
