hmm. that wouldnt work, as you'd have to abandon your liason-less fortress to start an adventure. reclaiming your fort will effectively be a new fortress with new appointees.

So, if I let a bit of world gen time go by (say, in adventure mode), a new liason will be appointed?

I was talking about while ingame though.

I don't think there would be any way to get a liaison after the initial worldgen ends, although I could be wrong.  Anyway, he mentioned the possibility of a placeholder, so we'll see.

The liaison is a civ-level position, so that wouldn't matter.

How DOES worldgen appoint diplomats and liasons? The liasons when viewed in Dwarf Manager or Dwarf Therapist, often have a variety of skills, but that doesn't neccesarily mean anything.

You know, we should put that question up for one of the questions for the next DF talk.

Missile weapons will no longer be quite as ridiculous, and I think things like socks and coins will no longer be valid weapons in most circumstances.

Socks and coins are totally valid weapons. Pour the coins into the sock, grasp the sock by the top, and swing hard.

Zenigata Heiji concurs with your assessment of coins as weaponry.

Interesting--reminds me of the Penny Plunderer from Batman. I myself got the idea, though, from Rincewind's use of coins as weapons in The Colour of Magic and his half-brick-in-a-sock in Sourcery.

Awesome updates, I'm quite excited for all of them, especially the hospital stuff...

Are there also updates in the future to make building furnaces and forges out of things like Lignite, Coal, and the like a 'Bad Plan (tm)'?

Eh, Gambit does it better though, and I'm of the opinion that if Gambit does Y better than X does Y, then Y isn't exactly a specialty of X.

Am I the only one that notices that scamps does not appear particularly pleased with his new headgear?

Though I suppose it is rather hard to get a cat to wear anything without distain and hatred.  It looks like a cool hat, and makes him look noble and... egypty.

Yeah, cats don't exactly like wearing things. Can't blame them. Hopefully he doesn't have to do it often.

Heck if you really want to know how much cats hate wearing things... just stick a peice of tape to the side of them or one of their legs (no not a huge peice of duct tape you sicko! just an inch of scotch tape is all that is needed) and watch as they go CRAZY... or at least my sister's does.

Toady outright stated the Scamps hates that hat in the topic announcement for DF Talk #4 and attempted to sneak up on Scamps with the hat while Mr. Scamps was sleeping in order to minimize hat-related claw wounds. So yes, its not just you.
