Is it possible that he had other injuries? I don't see how an arm bruise can cause that to happen, especially not so quickly, even in theory.

This is a bug I thought to report, but I guess it's pointless with the body structure being reworked. No, there were no other injuries, but I was playing a [SIZE:99995] kobold. The bug in this case is a bruise, not that it caused instant death.

So, new healthcare: will you be starting with anyone trained, or(as above) letting the woodcutter and soapmakers handle it?

I generally don't manage to break any of my dwarves until at least the first migrant wave, so it shouldn't be too important. Of course, with the new underground I'm sure there're all kinds of fun dwarf smashing to be discovered.

Also rotting, poisons, and various globs to explore, mayhaps with amputation via untrained surgeon. I wonder if the Axdwarf skill would help with that... Has anyone ever mentioned just how awesome this game is? :D

I think that by far the coolest way of announcing the new version would be to make a post quoting all the unanswered questions here, then give a link to the new version titled "Find out for yourself." Of course, now that I've said this, doing that would be rather derivative and therefore, not as cool. Oh well.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.
This could be a handy way of teaching preschool children mathematics.

They used to use alcohol to sedate a person before surgery in pre-anesthetic times. Sadly, I don't see this having the same effect in dwarves. Is it going to be simply a case of "hold still and try not to bite off your tongue"?

usually they had you bite down on something, as well.

"I'm going to have to operate. Here, bite down on this piece of wood"

"That was just Bomrek AxeTeeth, you amputated his arms last year, so he learned to fight with his teeth. He regularly bites through goblin armour"

...and then Bomrek goes on to teach a night course in toothy combat.

Of course not, instead the dwarves will be given water to sedate them.

Not to seem off topic from dwarf fortress...  Anyone know if you assign what beds are hosipital beds or is it like the current version?  Cause being able to make a room specifically for surgury would be pretty good, so blood doesn't cover other healing dwarves..
Yeah, there's a new hospital zone now. All furniture within it is set aside for medical use.

What he meant there was, if you would be able to assign different hospital areas. As in 'not operating the injured directly at their beds, in front of a watching crowd'.
