A Japanese Dictionary
« on: December 28, 2008, 01:53:39 am »

I recently got the "full demo" of the Shinji Ikari Raising Project, and as expected it's in Japanese.

Unfortunately even though I've studied enough to be able to romanize hiragana, and katakana, I cannot do much else in the matters of translation, this is primarily because my vocabulary within the language is limited to close to only a hundred, less if you remove any words without use. So may I ask if any of you are willing to assist in the task of expanding my vocabulary?

Playing a game with a dictionary is kind of hard(core).
I'm using this to learn kanji. Don't forget to check out the links.
I've tried playing ROTKX this way once. It was kind of slow game full of mystery and surprises("I wonder what did I just said", "What's this? Why do they want to fight me now?" etc.) So, good luck.

Is it my atrocious writing? How much bloody kanji exists? Or perhaps it's the effect of putting the word Shinji in my previous post?

~40000? But I've been told you just need 2000 in everyday life.
Shinji as in what? The one meaning I know is: 'filial/true second(son)', but they write his name in kana, as I've noticed, so it might be pretty much anything else. I guess.
Your game is in kanji, right? Or did I just failed miserably to understand your request?

I believe he was talking to woose1, you're off the hook.

As for woose1, I think it's just that he can't comprehend a non-nonsense thread.

Well assuming that Shinji is the most hated character in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Fate/stay Night...

For the meaning of the question itself, the game seems to be a hellish combination of kanji, hiragana, and katakana, and the occasional English for some of the menus. You did help on what difficulties I would have with kanji, although I really was asking for a Romanised (sp?) Japanese to English dictionary.

Damnit, I've been dumb. Again.

I really was asking for a Romanised (sp?) Japanese to English dictionary.
Check out the links page of the website I mentioned earlier. There's a bunch of online dictionaries there, at least few of them support romaji(I believe it's 'romanized').
