Cool or wierd creatures you've modded
« on: December 14, 2008, 12:35:50 pm »

The other day, I came up with a Skeletal Horror, a rare kind of skeleton "golem" created by unknown beings forgotten by myth ages ago. I couldn't figure out how to give it a "bone" material, but otherwise it's pretty fun:

Note that making the upper and lower spine the main body parts and small, then adding the body plates gives the creature a very effective natural armor for it's spine. Attacks against it's upperbody/lowerbody almost always hit a body plate instead of the spinal column. Thus, it's weak spot is in the head and neck. It pretty much requires a good head shot to kill it before it kills you, even though it's not any bigger than a standard human.  Unless you happen to find one after something else bashed/wrestled off most of it's many limbs.

I don't have the file anymore, but the most awesome creature I've modded?

Vicious Pink Bunnies of Doom!

It was the 'Evil' civvie for a mod I made for a friend of mine on his birthday. :D

Why do I have the strange feeling that you're going to find some "Skeletal Skeletal Horrors" in the next evil zone you go to?

What controls if something can be zombied?

The [CANNOT_UNDEAD] tag prevents a "Skeletal Skeletal Horror."

The thing is [EVIL], [SAVAGE], and only arises from subterranean chasms - so you'd have to search for very specific terrain to find one.

I could have sworn I read that that tag didn't work anymore for some reason. Maybe I dreamed it. Just woke up.

No wait I remember now. I'm thinking of [UNDEAD_CANDIDATE]. Which is exactly the opposite. Whether that was ever a real tag or not I don't know, but it definitely doesn't work.

EDIT: (It was an old entity tag)

Ah, ok. I believe it's listed on the Wiki as being a tag that used to populate ruins.

All that is now handled by the [NATURAL] tag I believe - the lack of it meaning that it cannot be subject to becoming a Zombie or Skeleton. This is due to be changed in the next release, however, where the templates for such are being moved to the raws, I believe.

Nope. Fire imps don't have it, and yet, oddly enough, I keep hearing reports of skeletal fire imps. Same with zombie batmen.

I'm pretty sure it's the existence or nonexistence of the [CANNOT_UNDEAD] token that handles such things.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

I've added Deep Crows and diversified Demons into four other demon types; Plague, Excess, Blood, and Change.

Ooh, the Anima. They are majorly kick-ass... I keep getting my ass kicked by my own creation.

You'd think they'd appreciate me a little bit more. :P

Mimics and carp demons.

I don't have the mimics anymore though.  It was around 7 individual creatures designed to look like different worldgen crafts that don't move and bite very hard.  They lived in caves.
