I don't think character development is the foremost thing on one's mind when one is watching a show about scantily clad demihumans getting themselves off

And tell me, What does one think of? Because that doesn't happen either :P

See my point? :P

Yeah, HOTD is a lot of things, but subtle ain't one of 'em. Great popcorn show though, in a grindhouse sort of way.

No, that definitely, definitely does happen. In the manga, anyway. Slime molests most of the rest of the cohort to orgasm more than once. It's actually a running joke -- get water on you and the slime is basically going to ruin you for marriage. Pretty sure there was some other stuff, too.

... that said, there actually is a bit of character development and decent characterization for that show, especially for what is more or less fairly soft softcore porn. It's perhaps not the main attraction, but character development rarely hurts when it's alongside scantily clad demihumans getting off.

See the rule for animes like that is that they do two different versions to ensure funding for themselves. The actual TV run is just intended to get people hyped up (or for the handful who watch shows like that for other reasons then scantily clad demihumans getting off). Then they released the blue-ray version, where they go back and redraw and extend a lot of scenes to uncensor things they removed or changed for the actual release (and to get all of the people who are watching it for the apparent reasons to buy the blue-ray disks).

I know about BD releases removing light rays and bathroom steam etc, but I didn't think it was very common to go all the way to having actual sex scenes that are in the BD version of an episode but aren't in the TV version. Usually it's the DVD extras that give you the real deal material. For the actual episodes, they want you to be aware that you're missing something, and that the BD is going to deliver that, so they have the same scenes, just fuzzed out.

That's made me realize, Bikini Warriors is basically like watching the smutty DVD special episodes for a regular Ecchi show, except they forgot to make the main show and just made the extras.

All fanfics are heresy, each and every one, especially the shipping ones. Those are by far the worst.

So, Yuki Yuna was painfully obviously a reaction to Madoka. I mean, yuki even kind of /looks/ like madoka, only a sporty madoka more than a chubby goody two-shoes.

So, if Madoka and Yuki had a fight, who would win?

Could a vertex merge with Walpurgis Nacht?

Would yuki and madoka set aside their differences to fight this mega-meta-abomination

would this not be the best fanfic ever written, 30 H's style?

For the actual episodes, they want you to be aware that you're missing something, and that the BD is going to deliver that, so they have the same scenes, just fuzzed out.
While it's nowhere near as common as simple redraws, at least a handful of (generally the worst offending) shows tend to include "extended" scenes in their BD releases (From what I've heard High School DxD was particularly fond of this, as a recent example). And while they usually don't often go all of the way to straight out sex scenes (though some apparently do), it's not too uncommon to have "substitute" scenes in their extended ones (sure that's an orange creamsicle that he's feeding her, but with the way that all of the camera angles are framed and the scene ends you wouldn't be able to tell the difference). Or alternatively you have shows like Shinmai Maou no Testament that just say "screw it!" and literally become softcore porn at times, especially in their "extended scenes".

(Shut up! :P I recently had a conversation with one of my friends about how crazy relaxed a lot of censorship stuff has become compared to shows from even just a decade ago and the topic came up. To Love Ru: Darkness, High School DxD, Shinmai Maou no Testament; there's apparently been a lot of shows that are apparently playing "chicken" by seeing just how close they can get to actual pornography and still get broadcast. And it's not just an anime trend either; western tv shows like Game of Thrones would never have been able to make it on mainstream TV 5 or 10 years back [though here we tend to match our mainstream pornography with a huge amount of plot or by calling it a "reality show" instead of just depending on niche markets]. :P)

... just to note, as with the monstergirl one, the maou one you mentioned is, again, mangawise, pretty much straight up softcore porn. The original medium usually don't screw around :V

Yeah, judging by a glance at the illustrations on baka-tsuki the maou novels might even be worse than the show. :P (And the monster girl stuff started as a side-series to a straight up porn series, don't forget :P).

Of course yeah, it is important to remember this doesn't apply to everything. Fate/Stay Night series is mainly an eroge don't forget, but that doesn't stop the UBW anime from being awesome. :P
