What? Having never read the manga, I have no idea what you're on about. By 'the three' I assume you're talking about Kirsche, Siesta and Louise?
In descending order of abusiveness, if I'm remembering correctly: Anime Louise, LN Louise, Manga Louise. The last was (relatively) calm, and the LN at least bothered to explain some of the family situation that made the girl that screwed in the head to begin with.

Yeah I've heard before that the LN's at least had a subtext that she was in fact a screwed up person, whereas in the anime this subtext is missing and random beatings are just fun, fun, fun. Interesting that the manga basically takes the middle ground and just cuts a lot of the violence level out rather than try and justify it.

Takamura is a lovely person, isn't he though? I was going to mention more Takamura moments, but I think they're upcoming for Neonivek in later episodes. Taka's always a pure joy, and charming to the ladies.

Mm, basically Louise's situation in the LNs can be described like this:

That aside, I can almost read the LN treatment of her abuse of Saito as being commentary on the society (most of the reason it's apparently treated as humorous or lighthearted in any of the incarnations is because the characters treat it that way), but I'm reluctant to ascribe that much creative depth to any author who makes more than a third of their recurring characters underaged girls with chests like that.

Can you really apply reasoning to a series that's clearly catering towards the femdom fetish

Just because a series caters it doesn't mean it is automatically garbage.

Heck Samurai Champloo (or however you spell it) actually had an episode that was just that... and it managed to be good.

Sure, but you can't necessarily expect a rational answer to "Why does this girl keep on beating up this man" when the entire point of the series is to appeal to people who enjoy the idea of girls beating up men

Yeah but the biggest misstep it and other series of its type does... is that well, the person they beat up... doesn't want to be beaten up.

Which is fine it is meant to be garbage fantasy... but that isn't what FoZ is going for.

I... don't actually recall this.

Not necessarily, but I don't see why that's different from any other series' features or explicit purposes. Well, different numbers, perhaps, but the theory should be basically identical. "Want X, justify if possible."

Meh, everything caters to someone. And perhaps it's just past experience speaking, but I'm reluctant to dismiss anything (even distasteful, overly sexualized tripe like ZnT) just because it's not particularly deep -- that reeks too much of arrogant Literature-with-a-capital-L academia.

That aside, it's one of those series which, if it were approached from a different direction, could have been genuinely compelling and interesting to read, so there's something of a sick need to develop and worldbuild as if the author wasn't aiming for the lowest common denominator half the time.

Technically Zero isn't a Femdom... She is just an abusive person.

Yeah, but obviously "girl abuses boy" equates to "girl abuses boy, therefore sexy". That's how logic works, right?

Of course that one scene from the anime -- you know which one -- yeah. But you can blame the studio for that, not the author.

Honestly given the popularity of a LOT of works and the things people spout to defend it (that I won't mention because they aren't anime)

What you just said might as well be considered indisputable fact...

Granted, it's a common concept for a reason. Smut sells, whatever vehicle it happens to be carried in, so if something can be construed to have been intended in that way, it probably was. That's not to say that something can't pander in addition to being good in its own right, but it's a difficult balance to strike.
