Oh yeah I should probably ask this. So the reason we decided to watch the 08th MS Team was because we made a plan to watch/read our way through the entire Universal Century in chronological order (excluding the unimportant/odd spinoffs like E Cole Du Ciel of course. And G Saviour.) before going to college.

We were originally going to wait until we had scrounged up enough time and money to order the Dvds for the 2nd and 3rd 0079 movies, but we wound up accelerating once we heard about Crossbone Gundam Ghost since we now want to reach Victory Gundam in time to catch up and start following it while its still going on (Since we already know the gist of how the original series goes down from the video games and novelization. Not to mention there's that Gundam The Origin anime adaptation supposedly coming out in one or two years).

Anyways, what I wanted to ask was which should we watch? The original Zeta Gundam anime or the remake movies? We know that if we watch the movies we'll want to go back to parts of the show and see Char's epic speech and the original ending, but what else will we wind up missing?

I just finished Virtue's Last Reward. I gotta say, now that was a game. Yessiree.

More specifically, it was similar to 999 in that I initially thought all the characters would be grating, but I wound up enjoying their personalities. The story thus far is awesome mindscrew to a new level..

Though I hated how it built-up tension and conflict and mystery, then at the end just blows it's load in my face in the form of an anticlimactic cliffhanger that necessitates a whole sequel just to finish what is effectively a single ongoing story arc.

That and the anticlimax extends into the puzzle segment's as well. Basically, there's no BIG FINAL ULTIMATE puzzle at the end. The last puzzle room just has a stupid version of minesweeper and a hand full of puzzles repeated from earlier rooms with harder solutions. I didn't think they could do worse than the sudoku finale of 999, but holy shit they managed to not only deeply unimpress me, but also tear my hair out in frustration trying to figure out the solution to the dice puzzle, which was probably a whole 2 orders of magnitude more difficult than it's previous incarnation, and it wasn't satisfying or cool at all.

So yeah no awesome finale puzzle, you just jerk some dice and darts around a bit, and then you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the holy shit twister-iffic anticlimactic cliff-hanger ending, which probably took longer than it needed to cause the writers had to make sure to explain everything over and over, going down to the smallest detail in a N I C E

in order to make sure all the kiddies playing the game can understand the incredible horseshit awesome pseudo science that's going on.

I mean, serious, the parts of it I loved, I loved completely. But come on game, pacing is a real important thing, don't just piss away your awesome buildup right at the end...

And really, how come noone mentioned that Sigma was an old disfigured guy? Everyone ripped into Tenmyouji for being an old bastard, but not Sigma? That was a kind of lazy reveal. It does, however, retroactively make all his "Herr derr wear a swimsuit for me Phi" moments ALOT funnier and creepier.

I still give the game a thumbs up, but god there better be a Virtue's LASTEST Reward, or this is gonna be Panty and Stocking W/ Garterbelt ALL OVER AGAIN! Plz don't let that happen Chunsoft.

But if it does, then atleast release a VLR Music Album that has all of Dio's grunts and groans remixed into a lewd sex song. Thx.

Here's some more 3ds taps:

I just got into this anime called Crying Freeman which I'm rapidly falling in love with for being so campy and awesome.

It's basically about a japanese potter, Freeman, who was brainwashed into being a pro assassin for the Chinese mob. Why? Cause being a potter naturally makes you da bestest supah assin in der wurld, apparently.

His schtick though, and the title's namesake, is that he cries manly tears for every person he kills. No matter how evil and deserving of death they are, no matter how premeditated his killing of them is, he's letting that salty fountain flow for every single one of them.

But this is a seriously badass little show, when the action gets going, and Freeman faces the awesome bad guy of the day, the clothes come right off before he fights to the death... Oh yeah, I should probably mention that Freeman has a full-body dragon tattoo that symbolizes his allegiance to the Chinese mob, and by god is he enthusiastic to show it off. His enemies are real cool about it too, they'll stand there and wait for him to strip completely naked before starting the fight proper. Just to clarify, this doesn't endow Freeman with any special powers, this isn't his personal Sailor Moon transformation sequence, he just fights in the buff cause he fucking wants to.

It's not limited to him either, more than one female character fights and does other nonsex things nude, or mostly nude. It's a little confusing as to WHY sometimes, as they don't have sweet tattoos (Well, one does... but I don't want to spoil who...) and a large portion of them aren't attractive women at all, they just do it cause goddamn is it badass in the weirdest way. It does catch me off guard when I'm watching the scene, and there's a short transition, and (SURPRISE!) the ugly morbidly obese girl is now completely naked, and the only reason you can't see her nether regions is cause her rolls of fat hang down and cover it up. It's not even sexual, she's just THERE and not a single character in the show cares one bit, they just keep going about their normal business like everyone in the situation ISN'T naked. I'm sure there's legitimate japanese reasons for it, but if you aren't mentally prepared, it's totally jarring and surreal. It's Popotan-esque, in a way.

It's a different kind of anime, that's for sure. Very short too, about... 7 eps maybe? I can't remember. Each at an hour long. My anime watching patience is very short nowadays though, so I'm still on ep 4.

Oh yeah, and the ending credits song is just the most soothing and romantic melody I've heard in a long time, and it fits right in somehow.

IIRC there were lots of hints throughout the game.  The only one I can remember right now is Alice registering surprise and commenting "you must have been studying for a long time" when Sigma said he was a physics undergrad.

The Film changes the ending. Also, based on what they cut out of the MSG film (I haven't watched the Zeta compilation, but the first one was pretty hard to follow if you don't already know what's going on), I would not reccomend it. I suspect Zeta's the same.

Zeta has, overall, much better characters than the original (and all the good characters (the only ones that really gelled with me were Bright, Amuro, and Char) from the original return), but it also has some that are much worse.
