That Titan vs. Titan fight. All that raw emotion, and animal intensity, and the absolute reckless abandon. Holy crap, that was among the most visceral fights I've ever seen in anything ever. I mean... that part where Eren's eyes rolled back, and his head started jerking around... I don't have words.

Also... I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up when the elite squad engaged, but I really wanted it to work. Just as soon as the good guys learn awesome new things, the bad guys get way more awesome to compensate. It's like Dragonball Z all over again. Horrible, bloody, cannibalistic Dragonball Z.

The DBZ thing is literally what I thought right there.  I'm like "ugh, now no one is going to matter but the titan-shifters and I don't care about 'em, kill me now, Mikasa's power is ultimate and she'll be outstripping Levi now because he's like fucking 34 and she's only 15."  And then he's going to die and his death speech will have some sort of childish reference to shit and there will be like blood all over the place and everything will be horrible.  And because this isn't Dragonball, he's just going to flat-out die, along with everyone else we care about other than Mikasa and Eren.  And then they'll win at the end but it won't matter because of all the comrades we'll have lost and the nakama will be dead and buried, like, how do you have nakama with corpses ;_;

Right, so I got a bit ahead of myself.  But as a long-term Dragonball fan I see it coming, man.

Well, the female titan (can i say the real name, i wasn't spoiled but even erin knows who it is at this point.)  didnt really power up, it should have been obvious the squad was going to their death after all that other shit that happened in the previous few eps. But erin and them didnt know that stuff. They did get our hopes up with how they took out her eyes and arms, though.

This whole episode contained one of the best series of combat sequences i've seen, from the squad being wiped out to mikasa's pursuit. I really want to see some more actually urgent mikasa and the other rookies vs normal titans, so far any normal titan mikasa has wanted dead just outright dies without a sweat. There was that one time when they were trying to close the gate where there was some urgency, but it wasnt much of a fight because they couldn't use their maneuver gear due to no buildings.

The thing is. . . the thing is that every time Eren goes out with his nakama, it's almost a TPK.  I don't bother learning people's names and stuff like that because I know I'm going to get attached to them, they're going to die, and we're never going to get a breather episode better than the third episode or whatever.  This is the first show I've ever seen where I've been legitimately desperate for filler.

The Levi spinoff manga will probably be the closest thing to an actual shonen-flavored thing we get, and that's only because we know the protagonist and the squad we see in SNK won't be dying.

Thank you for that! I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. I can't stop watching, but I'm not sure if it's because I want to see how they win or how everything goes to shit. They're very good at putting plot thread resolutions mid-episode, too.

Also, she's probably the only character combat-savvy enough to pull off some of those moves. I also I believe I remember her using that signature Foot-Sweep Take Down she used when sparring with Eren earlier. That, and she and he totally have the Rivals thing going on.

In my hypothetical scenario, I imagine she was sent out to capture/kill Eren, because she works for the Inner Wall, who view the Recon Corps and/or their acquisition of Eren as a serious threat for a reason I haven't yet decided. Maybe it has to do with discovering the secret to the Titan Transformation No Jutsu? Or possibly that Eren remains a crazy, murderous motherfucker who was totes ready to eat people during that last fight of his?

Spot on with your ID, but the motivation is at best partially right, as is the backing. There are a few more relevant reveals that the anime hasn't (IIRC) hit yet.

On a completely unrelated note, Shadowjack's write-up of his viewing of Sailor Moon finally convinced me to give it a shot. The foremost thought in my mind is that those commercial bumpers are really spiffy, even by modern standards. There's just so much about them that is done right. Oh, and this gem of a line:

Im just wondering, for those who have read the SNK manga, do things get complicated or are we just dealing with the other human titans being the bad guys until the end of the show. Dont spoil it for me but give me a y/n as to whether its at least interesting
