And now that I've woken up I'll make as many comparisons with Ever17 and 999, because there are ALOT.

Spoiler: major spoilers for both Ever17 and 999, read at your own risk!  *why do I even warn people spoilers don't exist...* (click to show/hide)

The biggest three I can think of are:

Nine characters escape in the end of both of them.
Two of the nine characters are the true culprits in both.
Both involve time travel to solve the plot.

And the setting is similar too.  The first time is the real time (June getting trapped, Takeshi and Coco dying) and then the culprits set it up to happen again to either get Junpei to sync up with June or get Blink Winnkle to help with his 4th dimension powers.  And yes both are 'underwater' where they are trapped.

Now, Ever17 is much much lighter in tone than 999.  It can be disturbing sometimes, but 999 actually feels like a live or die situation.  There is also a clear antagonist in 999 called 'Zero' while in Ever17 at most we get LP or Leibrich Pharmaceutical.

Ever17 looks like a dating sim game.  999 looks more like an Ace Attorney game and this is probably on purpose.

Still like 999 more but that was pretty neat.  'Neat' is probably the best way to put it.

I started watching RahXephon a little while ago - with dubs, actually, as they seem to be half-decent? However the show itself seems to be completely insane, as evidenced by this - http://youtu.be/RH351rLiDBY - and other clips.

That said, it's a relatively interesting, if not completely inspired/original, take on a sort of psychological isolation tale so far, with a giant angel robot and giant singing demon robot things appearing from time to time. Also seems like a lot of potential for musical references that I'm not catching.

The Xbox 360 port is interesting looking.  I remember reading about it months ago and watching the new OP.  Definitely gets a Steins;Gate feel thanks to .5pb and the German-ness.
