Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni is exactly the same as the first season, which was totally hit and miss. Some episodes are generally funny, while others just seem to drag the arse out of pretty boring situations. Also, I find the whole summoned being thing completely unnecessary.
Blade got dropped before the first episode was finished. It's shit.
Blood-C started off a bit repetitive. The first half of the episode was always a bit SOL-ey (which I loved, although a lot of folk disliked), with Saya singing, going to school, mingling with friends and whatnot, and then coming home. The second half always went full action, with her fighting some monster of the week. Trying not to spoil anything, lets just say that in the last few episodes, shit has got real. CLAMP never disappoint, i'm just worried about the pacing. Obviously they had to build up some characters with the SOL sections at the school, but that took up like 5½/12 episodes. Considering it has a movie planned, i'm hoping they can finish the TV series well without it being a massive cliffhanger requiring you to wait 6 months to see what the fuck is going on. Although I have a feeling that will happen. Finally, this show has easily the best music out of the season.
Dantalian no Shoka is classy as fuck. The whole atmosphere of the series is great, and
Dalian is a brilliant character. There's not really much to talk about considering it's an episodic series, although each episode is very unpredictable. My favorite so far would probably have to be the one with the writer.
Double-J is 4 minutes long, it's supposed to be about various cultural activities mixed with comedy, except it seems to be lacking that last part. Still watching because 4 minutes long.
Hanasaku Iroha has started to wane a bit for me, even as a diehard SOL fan. Pretty much the only character I like is Minchi, especially in the latest episode. It features her getting pissed off at some girl during the planning for the cultural fair, an event that is mandatory for every high school anime ever. Ohana just annoys me most of the time, although my most disliked is the one from the other inn, Yuina. The first 10~ or so episodes of the show were really good too, I imagine the last few will have some dorama featuring Ohana or her mother taking over the inn, or something. The art is really fucking good, though. Right now i'd say the series is a solid 7/10.
Ikoku Meiro no Croisée is excellent. It has a very Aria-esque feel to it, and each episode has been getting better and better. It's also heart-destroyingly cute, and weirdly has a likeable male MC.
Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi. I have not the slightest clue about what is going on in this show, and not in an Evangelion way. The parts I picked up make no sense. People who have read the novels comment that they are difficult to grasp at the best of times, and the adaptation is just a train wreck that is wildly off course from the source. Overall a letdown considering the same studio, director and original writer did Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu (DnYnD or LOLHeroes). I'm not sure why I expected anything great, though, seeing as it is Zexcs trying to make a short anime from a large lot of novels, and the enormously censored fanservice filled first episode that screams 'BUY BLURAYS PLEASE.' And since it's Zexcs, they'll finish the anime right when the main shit happens and then never make a second season.
Kaiji S2, the most tense show ever. Go watch the first season if you haven't, and then catch up on this. It is astoundingly good. Fukumoto Nobuyuki is a master at his work, the current arc with the Bog is insane. Also, that scene with the finger device a few episodes ago made me cringe so hard I nearly had a seizure.
Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: Kyun Kyun Longname Paradise!!. It's not serious in the slightest, almost a parody of the Mahou Shoujo genre, although the first episode didn't give away enough about it being so ridiculous. It's got 3 lolis as the main characters who fight crime, it's pretty
cure cute. Kugumiya Rie voices one obviously, or else the series wouldn't be complete. It still has nothing on Milky Holmes as a JCStaff comedy/parody show, though.
Kamisama Dolls is pretty boring. It's got some plot about something, but it just doesn't grasp me at all. Basically, generic MC from some village somewhere and his friend with hot air balloon sized tits know some girl (I think she's his sister?) who can control some Kyuubei looking robot that can fly about and shit. Then some other kid turns up with the same sort of robot, and the MC knows some guy who's a generic dark past character yadayada nobody cares. Brains' Base clearly don't give a shit either, judging by the amount of QUALITY. They're just hoping to sell some BDs by having the titmonster girl and the loli in every scene all the time. Natsume and Penguindrum will sell more, and they know it.
Kamisama no Memochou is still doing well for a JCStaff series. It has a sort of Durarara-ey feel to it, with gangs and such. I like the format of a new plot every couple of episodes, and they're generally quite well done.
Mawaru Penguindrum is batshit mental ridiculous what the fuck. There's an overhanging plot that's being revealed little by little, I'm happy that they're not rushing into it. Ikuhara Kunihiko knows what he's doing. The characters are great, everything has some great style to it. You know what to expect of the series when the halfway through the first episode you get SEIZON SENRYAKU and the resulting fabulous colourful scene. I quite like it, i'd say its a 8/10 right now. It will probably get better. Oh boy we're only halfway there and look at all the shit i've written already.
Mayo Chiki! is the usual generic harem present in every season. This one is a bit more interesting than the usual though, and it's also not an eroge adaptation for a change. It has some pretty interesting characters like the sadist girl and of course the reverse trap butler, but it all boils down to the same shit in the end. Beach episode is done this week, ETA until the cultural fair? 5/10
Morita-san wa Mukuchi is another tiny show, at only 3 minutes per episode. While the premise of a girl who spends too long thinking about things seems like not much at first, it's cute as fuck. Such a shame about the length. I can only hope for another 20 minute OVA.
Natsume Yuujinchou San. Just as excellent as the first two seasons, it has fantastic music and characters with some more being introduced. The interactions between Nyanko-sensei and Natsume alone are great. The premise is very similar to Mushishi's, however they are executed quite differently besides being mostly episodic. The episode with the Youkai in the tree from Natsume's past stands a chance of being the best episode of anything i've watched this year. Go watch this show if you haven't already. Linked to some promo art because holy shit just fucking look at it.
Nekogami Yaoyorozu is about some gods. It's a slice of life with some comedy elements, and a very large cute factor. While being clearly influenced by Touhou, it works pretty well I find. Not much to say about it other than it's a 7/10 show and Shamo is the best character.
Nichijou, another last season 2cour. While it's original humour dried off and it has become overly reliant on finding reactions funny, it is still really weird and different enough to keep me glued for the whole episode. Also, I still laugh like an idiot in basically every scene involving Mai. Mai is excellent. It has the regular KyonAni animation quality, and judging from how fluid it is and how they're using a new ED song each episode now, they've got some money to burn from K-ON and the Haruhi movie.
No.6 turned out to be really good. It's got a lot of atmosphere to it, even with such a glaring BL undertone. The story is really getting interesting, I have a feeling that the reveal of why Nezumi hates No.6 so much will be pretty good.
Nyanpire. It's about a cat that's a vampire and it's 3 minutes long. Clearly the greatest anime there ever was. It's like Chi's Sweet Home except not as good.
Ro-Kyu-Bu has lolis playing basketball. For such a series, I thought Japan would go all out and have fanservice everywhere, but it's surprisingly absent in most episodes. Overall it's pretty cute, it would be hard for such a premise not to be.
Sacred Seven got it's shit dropped in the recent episode. It's like Sunrise tried mashing together everything that has previously made a series sell into the one show hoping it would the biggest cash cow ever. Generic MC, generic love interest, butler who exists solely for yaoi doujinshi, some shitty plot involving aliens or something, fighting for my friends shit. It's just really bad, I was only watching it for the blonde girl but she wasn't enough to stop me dropping it.
Steins;Gate hardly needs an introduction, it's pretty damn fantastic. Excellent characters, excellent plot and some of the best drama in a while. If Kaiji didn't exist, it would easily be my favorite of last season. There isn't a single bad thing I can find about the show, everything works really well and even the pacing is great which is often a problem in VN adaptations. I'm waiting for Commie to get off their arse and do episode 20, then i'll probably edit this section.
Suite Precure. LETS PLAY, PRECURE MODULATION! It's not as good as Heartcatch (I don't think any new Precure will be as good as Heartcatch), but it's still Precure. Astoundingly cute and generally very well done monster of the week Mahou Shoujo. Now that Cure Beat is added in the mix, it's gotten a whole lot better. And i'm still genuinely puzzled as to the identity of Cure Muse.
The iDOLM@STER. Oh boy. Quite possibly the most moe thing i've ever watched, it just blew me away how much I fucking love this. While it could use some more scenes where the idols actually sing the songs, I understand that those are hard to animate and they are trying their best to follow the game. Besides, it sure as hell builds anticipation, when Iori announced Smoky Thrill in episode 6 I just about died. While there's been no official announcement, the pacing confirms that its a 2cour series, and I will love every minute of it provided it doesn't cause a heart attack at some stage from moe overload. Fall is going to be great.
Also Miki is the best.Usagi Drop is getting better and better, even for someone who hasn't read the manga. It's so goddamn heart warming, all kids should be like Rin. I also really like the art style. Again, waiting on Commie to get off their arse and do episode 7. Will probably edit later.
Yuru Yuri, another fantastic adaptation. I loved the manga, and the anime is just fantastic, especially the last episode. Often quite funny show about many lesbian middle schoolers, what's not to like?
